HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Before we get right into WHERE YOU CREATE this week, I have to say how excited I am with all the e-mails I have received this past week, we have lots of FUN spaces to visit…keep them coming!

This week Kathleen Schriber opens her scraproom door to us! Look closely as she has oodles of things packed and organized…everything has a place! After receiving her pictures I had sent a quick response asking her to share her thoughts and favourite things about her room. Here is her response!

Thank you!  I’m honored!

I love my craft room because it is bright, cheerful and full of the things I love.  I’ve always dreamed of my ‘own room’ to play and make things that make me and others happy!  I have many favorites in here, but I think I have to say what I love the most; is the storage I made for my ribbons.  I seldom used my ribbons because they were tucked away and I couldn’t see them.  Now I have them ‘out in the open’, well…they’re behind the door, but in what was an unused and wasted space, now I can just look, choose and grab  the ribbon need.  I made the cards in which to thread the ribbon; from liners that come in boxes, and have them hanging from a $2 over the door rack.

Most of my storage is either from garage sale finds, homemade or free.  Having been fortunate to save money this way, I felt I could indulge in buying the ‘recollections’ storage cubes and some shelving from my local hardware. There isn’t any wasted space in my room. I’ve utilized every inch available.  Although it gets cluttered very easily, there is a ‘home’ for everything I own and I know where everything is.  Almost!!!

Sometimes I have to dig a little *wink*.  I store all my small dies and embossing folders under my work table in photo boxes, on a $4 shoe rack.  Another ‘find’!

What I love most about my room, although it’s small, I have two nice big windows that let the light in.  I can look out and watch the birds, deer, squirrels, rabbits and other wildlife that come to visit.  I spend a lot of time here.  It’s my favorite room in the house.  I’d love to have a small TV but I’m afraid, I would never leave.  Now if I just had room for a coffee pot!

…”make things that make me and others happy” – that sums it up doesn’t it. Thanx for sharing Kathleen. Great room 🙂

  5. I love the ribbon idea but I am lost as too what “liners that come in boxes” is.. would you mind being a little more specific. Thanks a bunch!

I love the homey look of your room. Most of us can’t afford a scrapping room off the pages of House and Home and I love seeing what you can do on a tight budget! After all it is our supplies that count not what we keep them in!!! 😉

  7. Love your ribbon hanger and the cutter shelf especially .Wish my room looked so well organized but hopefully soon as I am planing to turn one of my bedrooms into a craft room . Tired of my darker room in the basement– need something more cheery and bright , so I am hoping to change things around . Bedroom in basement as it can be dark for sleeping and craft room upstairs for sunshine and light. You have given me lots of inspiration. Thanks

Thanks for sharing Kathleen. Can you stop by my house on Tuesday to turn mine into a haven like yours? LOL I gotta hit up yard sales and attempt to get some more shelving/racks. Love your idea for the dies in the photo boxes on the shoe rack. Thanks again for sharing.

Thanks for sharing your crafting space Kathleen. I really liked your idea for storing ribbon! Mine is in baskets and bins and it takes a while to sort through them. You have inspired me to come up with a display system for my ribbon collection. Happy New Year!

  10. Thanks for showing us your craft space, Kathleen. I have the same ribbon solution and love it! Your space is bright and homey. 🙂

  11. Just want to say how much I love these postings! I look forward to it and will be sending pics of my craft space just as soon as I do a bit of purging… it’s quite motivating to get organized! 🙂
