HELLO CANADA!
Hope everyone had a fantastic Canada Day and first full week of summer holidays with the kids home from school! I had a great, βshortβ work week but must say having a holiday on a Tuesday played havoc with my brain. All week I seemed to have lost a day. I missed two appointments thinking they were the βnextβ day and here I am LATE with WHERE YOU CREATE! …oiy vey! I am sticking with the sayingβ¦βbetter late than neverβ! Without further delay, letβs take a peek into Monica Longardβs basement retreat. I am thinking this is a great place to sneak into on a hot, summer day!
I first started scrapbooking in 2012. I took over the room we used for our computer/guest room.Β It was about 108 square feet and had some basic shelving in it and my husband built me a couple more shelves.Β I quickly outgrew that space so he offered to make me a better space in our basement.
I now have 440 square feet. He built a sub floor for me as our basement was unfinished and had a cement floor that gets very cold in the winter and sometimes water in the spring/summer.
He then transferred the desks and shelves from upstairs to the basement; plus built me quite a bit more shelving and a new work table made from a Pinterest idea.
We took our old basement door and covered it and set it on two sets of bookshelves. This is my main work space and I had to get a drafting chair to work at it!
I also have room for about 4 other tables so I can have had my own mini-crops with friends.
I think my favorite things about my room are the door-table and the shelving my husband built where I can display my projects.
My favorite storage units are the clear drawers on wheels at one end of the room.
As you can see I have practically every type of storage idea you can think of! I kind of like them all!
I am normally down there at least once or twice a week (minimum). I like finding even a few minutes down there as often as I can!Β If I am working on a bigger project I can be down there every day! My husband also works from home quite regularly so it is a fun way for us to spend time together even when he has to work.

What a wonderful space and to be able to invite fellow scrapers over for a scrapfest, lucky you. I have a very small space and am always looking for organizational ideas. Thanks.
