Creative Scrapbooker's VIP Club Cyber Monday Sale

Kim here with a post today on a cause that has become near and dear to Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine’s team.

You may have already noticed on our blog and Facebook page; a link to “Hope for Haiti”. We also have a full page dedicated to the cause in our magazine, in hopes that OUR scrapbooking community can rally together and help raise the funds required to build an ART ROOM for the under privileged children living in the outskirts of Cap Haitien.

This art room would be a roof-top adjunct to a school being built with the help of volunteers like our team member Alison Orthner. She has joined forces with LIVE DIFFERENT and CANADIAN SCRAPBOOKER magazine in efforts to make this dream become a reality. A place where these children can leave the hardships of their life for a short time and create beautiful art and music. Every child should be so lucky!

Any donation is welcome and can easily be made online. Donations over $20 will get a tax receipt and donations over $35 will receive a small canvas banner. These banners are for YOU to create art to be sent back to Haiti to be hung for the children to enjoy. How colourful and cheerful they will be.

I want to quickly share what I did with one of my 3 banners. I used some of my favourite scrapbooking supplies on this one from Sizzix, Clearsnap and Tombow, but may pull out some fabric and sew on another. A simple, happy project that I hope will be well received!

Finished banner, simple and happy!

CSM_HopeForHaiti1
I put a coat of gesso over my canvas so it wouldn’t be so porous.
CSM_HopeForHaiti2
I added some quick colour with Faber Castell Gelatos and wet brush.
CSM_HopeForHaiti6
I used my favourite Sizzix Die to make a stencil for my banner.
CSM_HopeForHaiti3
I added iZinks distributed by Clearsnap to my modeling paste…colour and texture!
CSM_HopeForHaiti5
I made these paper flowers with Stampin’ Up!’s Jumbo Sticky Rounds and patterned paper.
CSM_HopeForHaiti4
Tombow markers turned my lines into stems and leaves!

$20,000 is a big goal! With your help we can make this happen! For more information or clarification on any details, please let us know!

WOW!! This is a really awesome endeavor! When my tax refund comes in I will definitely be donating to this worthy cause! Thank you for bringing it to my attention!! Love how your banner turned out! Those flowers are really cool! TFS!

  2. Glad to see that everyone is participating in the Hope Fo Haiti cause. A Facebook silent auction was just held recently from Calgary to raise funds for this cause. Keep up all the good work.

  3. LOVE this banner Kim!!! It was sooo fun to take a few banners to Haiti with me and take photos of the children holding them!!! We will do the same for everyone who buys and donates a banner… send them a photo of a child from the school proudly holding their creation 🙂 We can do this!!!!
