Hello Canadian Scrapbookers! Happy DAY AFTER St. Patrick’s Day!!!!
To honor the 25% of my genetic makeup that is Irish, I decided to create a St. Patrick’s day layout for the blog. But because I am the curious sort, I had to find out why this day dedicated to leprechaun tricks and green beer even exists. Turns out St. Patrick was a 5th century fellow who had some rather interesting adventures! British by birth, he was captured by pirates and sent to Ireland as a slave. Good fortune smiled on him, and he escaped 6 years later, after hearing voices tell him a ship was waiting to take him home.
He became a cleric like his father and grandfather before him and returned to Ireland to minister to the people there. I guess they loved that because he was made a saint and he is celebrated with some solemnity there. He used the shamrock to explain the Christian Trinity to anyone who would listen, but I have not discovered the connection to beer and leprechauns… if you know, please enlighten me!
Now I will return to us to the matter at hand- a St. Patrick’s day layout. Uninspired by themes of beer and small men, I started to think about treasures and luck. That made me think of my husband. And that led to this layout
Supplies used: Patterned Paper- BoBunny; Cardstock- Bazzill Basics Paper; Stickers- Magenta, Prima; Letters- Making Memories; Flowers- Petaloo; Embossing Folder- Ranger; Ink- Clearsnap, Viva Decor.
Isn’t the glitter in the Viva Decor paste fun? And I love these ‘peel off’ stickers from Magenta!
How can you resist these cute little mushrooms?
I dressed them up with some glossy accents and glitter, cut them out of their background and applied them to my layout with dimensional adhesive.
With that, let me leave you with this final thought for this – the day after St. Patrick’s day – when we can all claim to be a little bit Irish…
Cheers
