Happy May! Are you feeling like you made it through winter? We Canadians are a hardy bunch; many wouldn’t tolerate our weather woes as well! Now we get into our spring groove which will always lead to summer fun. Our calendars will fill with outdoor events, holidays and long weekends. Take in the warmth and light of the sun…you deserve it!

Let’s celebrate by taking a pause in our day to visit Bonnie Smith’s creative space! She has some great, easy organizing ideas that I am sure will inspire you!

My room has gone through quite a few alterations over the past 11 years. I have found the best location to be just steps away from our family room.

My favorite part of my space is my desk. It is 50% Michael’s cubes and 50% my sisters carpentry. It’s just the right amount of work space and holds so many of my little treasures.

The shapely, wooden lady is a second hand found treasure that added some zip to the room. She holds my jars of metals and embellishments.

My ribbon wall always makes me happy and actually cost the least. My scrap buddy suggested using headpins and black clips, it felt like a breakthrough! It’s appealing to the eye and the touch! Anyone can make one!!

Everyday items offer great chances to keep the room tidy and still display our craft, like my punches on the towel/display bars.

I like to have ample storage but I am also very visual. If I don’t see it, I forget to use it. That’s why the large floor clip storage is important. I match and bag everything and display it there to inspire me!!

As far as the decor, I try to use things that hold a memory. A red metal bird from my sister who passed on, a blue paper lantern from a brand new baby nephew in the family, a jester’s hat from a past crop, a Bon Jovi album from a past concert. I believe we need to remember what’s behind us in order to move forward in a positive light.

Bonnie, I love your ribbons but if I were do that in my craft room, my 2 cats would have a field day. Your space looks very accommodating.
