Let There Be Projects, Lots & Lots of Projects – by Cathie Allan
The past two classes that I have been teaching for Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine incorporate some of my newest and “of course” most favorite techniques … why, because I get to use stamps/stencils and ink, of course and because “they are my newest” and new is always captivating. These techniques are so “multicraftable” that I have been non stop, creating projects using the ideas that I shared in those classes since I made the originals.
A huge part of the joy of sharing new ideas is when someone in the class looks at me with “eyes wide open with inky possibility” as they realize just how beautifully easy stamping and “smearing ink” can be. One treasured moment from this year happened when a young gal came back to me after the class (she was on the crop floor and I was in the Canadian Scrapbooker Booth demoing) with her completed project. Her eyes were shining as she proudly showed me her project told me that I had opened up a whole new “inky world” to her. She had always thought that my projects looked “too hard” and now she realized just how easy and forgiving my techniques were. Its just layer’s she said and when in doubt … add more ink. Oh, my goodness … the “not so secret” is out … creating with ink is easy AND FUN!
I do focus on technique, the fact that that you end up with a cool project is a bonus. I want those that come to my class to be “ink empowered” and also want them to realize that they can go home, use the ideas and techniques that I shared with them in the class on any paper crafting project they choose. From a scrapbook page, to a card, to a tag, to an altered page or a mini album ….. everywhere and anywhere there is paper my “inky ideas” simply want to go “there”.
I cannot wait to share my ideas in November when I attend the “Scrapchicks Gone Wild” event in Winnipeg.
The “endless possibilities” for the ideas I will share in those classes can be seen in the photographs shown here. The techniques that I am sharing have “morphed” since I taught those classes in Edmonton. In the class the ideas were finished as a “card and matching banner” and an accordion fold, mini album. Here is a peak into just a few projects that “jumped off” from these classes, same ideas, same fun, inky techniques but different finished projects. Edmonton “peeps” let your ink flow; here are a bunch of jump off projects to inspire you. Take your new inky skills to any of these projects. Ladies in Winnipeg prepare for an inky ride. Let me show you where just a few products can take you and how many different ways we can use those few products. Let there be ink ….. let there be projects!
See you all soon!
