Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a layout inspired by the monochromatic days of a northern Alberta winter. I used black and white because that’s pretty much the only colours I see right now when I look outside. Sigh. But soon the days will get longer and it won’t be long before the snow melts and the grass turns green again. Yes, I am an eternal optimist.
I made myself a triangle template out of a scrap of paper and used it to cut the patterned paper and photos into large triangles which form the basis of the layout. The paper is the Uptown Fundamentals line from Close to My Heart. This paper (and other matching products) are a gorgeous and versatile black, white and gold colour and is available from the Annual Inspirations Catalogue from CTMH. I used the Framework Alphabet Acrylic Stamps to stamp the title and the paper triangle that says ‘SNOW’. I love this stamp set because you can colour and customize it however you want but for this layout, I just stamped it in black and let it be.
This is hard to see because it is white on white, but for extra embellishments, I cut a few snowflakes of different sizes and designs using a CTMH Artistry Cricut cartridge and a Cricut Expression electronic die cutting machine. This a very easy way to quickly cut elaborate snowflakes!
Try some triangles in your scrapbooking this week and maybe even play with a monochromatic colour scheme. It’s fun! Happy scrapbooking!
Supplies: All from Close To My Heart – daisy white cardstock, patterned paper, stamps, sequins, washi tape, black dye ink, Cricut cartridge and border punch.

Love this layout! Simple, clean and even though it’s white/black, quite brilliant! Love the snowflakes. Gives me some ideas!
Love the layout. Black and White. So true of Alberta Winters. Long and dark with lots of snow.
Beautiful layout!
Must try this idea
I like this layout as it modern and innovative!
I love this layout and think the silver sequin really makes the snowflakes pop. Excellent idea!
So simple & yet so beautiful!
Nicely done! I also like that there’s still spaces of ‘white’. We have to admit that this is the clean time of year.
LOVE this!
