The fall 2014 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine featured one of my all time favourite articles written and designed by Christy Riopel. Back to school paper crafting projects was the theme of the article and in true Christy style she blew me away with a few of the projects that she created.
Altered Globe
One of my favourite projects in this article was this altered world globe.
Check out all of the intricate details. Tiny squares of patterned paper were stuck together to form the different continents of the world. How super fun would this project look on your desk!
Book Marks
Remembering what page you are on in your school novel study has never been cuter!!!
These fun paper clip book marks are so easy to make and will bring a smile to any student – even if their school assignment doesn’t (giggle giggle).
Book Covers
Altering the front covers of your notebooks, journals, scribblers – you name it.
Christy reminded us how incredibly easy it is to add style and pizzazz to your boring old notebooks. School scribblers have never looked so good.
Clip Boards
Keep your school lists, assignments, important dates and special notes on your altered clip boards.
Hang these beauties on your wall or keep them right on your desk for easy access. I love the inspirational quotes Christy added to these clipboards. Christy always posted inspirational quotes on her social media accounts – not only did she do this to inspire and up lift those of us who followed her – she also saved them for future paper crafting projects.
Lunch Box Love Notes
Okay – this was my FAVOURITE part of the article – Lunch Box Love Notes.
How absolutely adorable and so thoughtful. Personally, I would melt if someone put one of these into my lunch box. I am not sure who would – I might have to do it myself! Giggle Giggle.
Altered Tin
Christy altered this cute little tin using a few basic scrapbooking products.
It could be used as a lunch box, pencil case or for other small storage. The title “Talk Nerdy To Me” makes me laugh everytime. School has to be fun right?
It is so hard to believe that Christy created all these projects 3 years ago and they are still timeless. This is very important for you to remember. Scrapbooking and paper crafting are not about using the latest and greatest products all the time (although shopping is incredibly fun). Grab what you have and create. Sometimes you just gotta alter a world globe – JUST BECAUSE!
In loving memory of Christy Riopel – we continue to raise money for the Christy Riopel Art Scholarship. To date – one scholarship has been given through The Boys & Girls club of Calgary. This warms my heart knowing that Christy continues to spread gentle, caring and inspiring love through art in our world. Thank you so much to everyone who donates. We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.
