As I went through all the blog posts that Christy Riopel supplied Creative Scrapbooker Magazine over the years, I was once again AWE-STRUCK by how incredibly talented Christy was. Often you can look at a layout or project and say “That was created 10 or 15 years ago” based on the style or design of the layout. That just isn’t the case with Christy’s designs. They are timeless creations that look like they could have been created yesturday. Like this layout Christy created almost 10 years ago featuring chipboard gears from FabScraps. This week I am sharing with you the extact blog post Christy shared with us – TEN YEARS AGO! Amazing!

Using Christmas Ornaments as Embellishments by Christy Riopel
With all the stores stocking up Christmas ornaments I often keep my eye out for themed ornaments that are flat enough and super fun to use as an embellishment. The metal guitar on this page was a great find from a stall at a market. One of the other things I love about this page is the FabScraps chipboard gears that I tucked into the layers and they are peaking out to add interest and texture.Supplies: FabScraps paper, stickers and chipboard, Beacon adhesives, Marvy gel pen, Stephanie Bernard Ink Sprays.
I hope you are all able to find some time this weekend to nestle into your scrapbooking rooms and find a little heaven creating your next scrapbook project. I know that Christy’s projects have inspired you. This knowledge warms my heart knowing that her creative love of art lives on, even in the tiniest of ways, on our creative projects. Thank you!
Have a wonderful Saturday everyone.
In loving memory of Christy Riopel – we continue to raise money for the Christy Riopel Art Scholarship. To date – one scholarship has been given through The Boys & Girls club of Calgary. This warms my heart knowing that Christy continues to spread gentle, caring and inspiring love through art in our world. Thank you so much to everyone who donates. We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.

Christy was a very talented designer. I’m sorry we only had fleeting contact, but love that you repost things that I’ve missed.
It was great reading Christy’s post. I always enjoyed seeing her projects online and in the magazine. Her projects were always uplifting and she provided so many great ideas/techniques.
Thank you for sharing the post.
I always looked forward to getting to Christy’s submissions in each and every CSM magazine.! I would continue all the way through your magazine but would end up right back at her column and any other layouts she shared along the way. She was definitely talented and a great inspiration. Miss seeing her creativeness but I do love what you have done here and re-shared a lo done years ago!! Please keep up your awesome magazine especially in hard copy!! Merry Christmas Everyone!!
