Hello and Happy New Year! Kim here with a quick layout share using Creative Scrapbooker Magazine’s December Sketchy Challenge.
December’s wreath sketch was once again designed by the talented Kerry Engel and easily spoke to our holiday brains as a backdrop to holiday pictures. My brain quickly went to winter, Christmas, green, red and gold when I initially saw the design…that’s when my hand went up and said NO! I like to challenge the sketches by thinking outside of my gut feelings.

I had all kinds of winter themed product on my desk and couldn’t get my brain away from a Christmas wreath vision, so I cleared it ALL off my table and pulled out the first collection of paper I had that was NOT Christmas. It just happened to be Simple Stories’ Forever Fall collection.
First off, I LOVE autumn and I LOVE autumn colours. My brain started chugging away at ideas, until the end result was a wreath of autumn embellishments in many of my favourite colours! I was really pleased with the results!
I choose my main, focal image to be in black and white as all those collection elements were pretty busy! I think the black and white image softens and grounds the layout as a whole to the darker background paper!

This was a fun way to use up all those bits and pieces that often get left behind from a collection. I added a couple of loops of stitching for some extra subtle, texture and my Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L keeps everything in pace!
Thanks for taking the time to check out my first layout of 2019! If you didn’t get a copy of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine under your Christmas tree in December, be sure to grab a copy before it’s off the new-stands!
