Hello Creative Scrapbookers! Kim here with a layout share full of warm, tropical vibes!
I am just back from a weekend retreat with some of my favourite people. We shared stories, scrapbooking supplies, laughs and great food…there may have been some wine as well. Most of my friends were so productive…I was not. I do not create well at retreats. I know this and I accept this…yet I keep going to them. Why? Because surrounding myself with creative people, ‘my’ people and craft supplies fills up my mojo. These people feed my energy and my soul! I pack supplies knowing they will only be shuffled around and put back when I get home.
Today was my day off. Between laundry, tidying and walking the dog I finished this layout. Little bursts of paper breaks mixed into my day…how about that!? It’s how I create; quietly in my own space, knowing where everything is!
I used a gorgeous paper collection from Simply Stated Design, if you have not seen their collections…you must! Papers, ephemera, wreaths that will make your scrapbooking heart sign!
I added some watercolour to the ephemera images on the bottom right so they would pull in some colours from my main photo. The land in the lighthouse image was white, making it look like snow. By adding some green and sand tones, it made it look better with my tropical photos! Don’t be afraid to alter your papers to match your vision.
I also used a Stencil Girl stencil and Ranger Ink’s Distress Oxide – Stormy Sky on the torn paper on the right. It gives a subtle wave layer to that paper.
A combination of Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L tape runners and foam squares keep everything in place and some journalling was done with my Zebra ClickArt pen in grey.
We are super duper happy that Simply Stated Design is one of our FABULOUS sponsors at our Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnivals this spring in both Calgary and Edmonton.
