Hi everybody, Connie here with my take on the March sketch from the Canadian Scrapbooker It’s a Sketchy Challenge .   I stayed pretty true to the sketch this time around and used it to feature a favourite photo of my boys and I on a vacation in the Rocky Mountains a few years ago.   Heartfelt Creations has a beautiful paper collection called ‘Celebrate the Journey’ that went perfectly with my picture.  The papers in this line come in soft hues of teal, pink, green and brown and feature subtle travel themed patterns such as words, script, maps, bicycles and balloons.  Matching stamps and dies are also available. Inspired by the flourishes on the March sketch, I reached for a Heartfelt Creations flourish backgrounds stamp and added some subtle blue touches to the page behind the photo mat. For embellishments, I just cut out pieces’from another piece of patterned paper in…

Sorry to be a bit late today with WHERE YOU CREATE. I was out last night to see Adam Lavigne/Maroon 5 in concert [where THEY create!] and didn’t get my blog post complete until this afternoon! I know many of you who “swoon” over Adam will understand my scheduling dilemma! So without further ado, let’s get to this week’s creative space! Diane Kohl lets us take a peek into very organized space! Here are a few shots of my little art space. We call it the blue room; it used to be my daughter’s bedroom that was painted her favorite color. It is also the smallest studio space I have ever had! To make it work functionally, I used plastic storage towers and book cases for floor to ceiling storage. I have a great paper cabinet; purchased from Canadian Tire about 12 years ago. For maximize space and lighting I…

Hoping for spring! Materials: Magenta Stamps and cork sticker, Liquitex Gel Medium, book paper, Clearsnap inks, Canuck Crafts Spectrum Noir coloured pencils, Charcoal pencil I did this little art journal page to give myself a little bit of spring. I don’t think I am the only person who is ready for birds singing and sun shining! I started by using matt gel medium to attach these images over my background. I really like colouring over the gel medium with these Spectrum Noir pencils. They are so smooth and silky and blend beautifully. Happy Spring! Today on our blog, we welcome Karen Hach, a really talented scrapbooker who designs for scrapbook stores in Edmonton. Hi there! My name is Karen Hach and I am so thrilled that I was asked to share a little bit about myself with you. Let’s get to the personal stuff first. I have been married for 13 years to a wonderful man who not only supports my complete and utter addiction to scrapbooking, but also understands it. He also is cool with my need to get away for crops and bonding time with my scrapbook gang. Yes, that is a real thing. When we built our new home, he encouraged me to take up a large chunk of our basement with a custom-designed scrapbook studio. I am lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom to four very active boys, aged 10, 6, and 3 year old twins. Two of them…

HAPPY SPRING! Though so many of us [especially from the Maritimes!] are not feeling the spring love at all… The calendar indeed says it is a true fact; that we have officially made it through winter. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could just turn off the snow and be done with it? I know I keep good company in my want for colour in my world again…green grass, flowers, blue skies…may it not be a pipe dream! I therefore challenge you to put down your snow shovel and come visit Karissa Wright’s creative space. Here is where I create! I bit the bullet and finally purchased my scrapbook area cabinetry. All of the white cabinets are from Ikea. I have paper storage in the tall white one, as well as under the desk area. My wooden stamps, glitters, adhesives, etc. are in the lower white cabinet under the…

Today on our blog, we welcome Kathy Jo Wood who makes stunning cards with Quietfire Design stamps and dies! Hello Canadian Scrapbookers! My name is Kathy Jo Wood,  and it is an honor to be a guest blogger today! A little about me: I live in Waverley Nova Scotia with my handsome hubby, Greg. We are both mechanical engineers, we play ultimate Frisbee together, watch baseball and football together, and we are fortunate to have the best friends, families and furry family that two people could ever dream! Our furry family members include our sweet Saint Bernard, Ella, and three fluff ball kitties Ginger, Pepper and Nico. Most days I am in my craft room. During the work week I try to get into my craft room by 9pm, and it is not surprising for me to head to bed at midnight or after. I really enjoy my crafty time…

Hello Canadian Scrapbookers! Happy  DAY AFTER St. Patrick’s Day!!!! To honor the 25% of my genetic makeup that is Irish, I decided to create a St. Patrick’s day layout for the blog. But because I am the curious sort, I had to find out why this day dedicated to leprechaun tricks and green beer even exists. Turns out St. Patrick was a 5th century fellow who had some rather interesting adventures! British by birth, he was captured by pirates and sent to Ireland as a slave. Good fortune smiled on him, and he escaped 6 years later, after hearing voices tell him a ship was waiting to take him home. He became a cleric like his father and grandfather before him and returned to Ireland to minister to the people there. I guess they loved that because he was made a saint and he is celebrated with some solemnity there.…

Today on our blog we welcome Kristine Davidson, a scrapbooker and sketch artist who is on the Simple Stories Design Team! Hello Friends, my name is Kristine Davidson. I am on the East Coast in New Brunswick, and hopefully when you read this, the snow will have melted! I’ve been married for 14 years and have 2 cats named Archie and Willie who keep me busy removing cat hair from my glue dots!  I work full-time as a sales and service agent for an airline company and love to spend my spare time being creative. I’ve always been interested in arts and crafts since I was a young girl. I’ve cross stitched, made candles, lampshades, tole painting and scrapbooking has been my passion for several years. I’ve been an avid scrapbooker since 2008 and am completely addicted to pop dots and die cuts! I don’t think I’ve ever created a…
