While my layouts are usually less is more, and not full of patterned paper, I wanted to play around with paper on this one…I of course had to add a few dies as accents on my layout. This picture of my kids is from when they went zip lining in Maui a few years back.  Its one of those few times where they are both looking at you, smiling, and not making weird or funny faces…you know how it is sometimes.  😉 I started with a neutral base for my layout, and thought I would add some fun patterned paper. I hand cut a few tag shapes from the patterns and layered them next to my photo. Using my Spellbinders Prizm die cutting and embossing machine I used varying elements from the Spellbinders S2-216 Die D-Lights Amused 1 and Spellbinders  S2-227 Die D-Lites Springtime sets to create little accents in the…

Stamping with your Dies by Cathie Allan Mediums and tools that multi-task always have a special place in my creative heart. I totally enjoy looking at my creative tools, toys and mediums from various sides to see what I can get them to do for me other than the “intended use” suggested by the manufacturer. For this blog post I decided to play with the “Heart Clasp Die” from Art Impressions. This die makes a lovely wrap for a card but by joining two of these dies I was able to wrap my scrapbook page and then of course wrapped my photo. I then took this die a “stamp step” forward by applying ink to the backside of the die I thus was able to use it as a stamp. Look at that die “go”!! To begin I made the Art Impressions, “Heart Clasp Die” perform as a stamp. Apply…

Using Layered Stencils from Elizabeth Craft Designs Hello everyone – Christy Riopel here! I am really enjoying playing with the Elizabeth Craft Designs new layered stencils. It lets you create two coloured patterns with ease! Supplies: Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock, Elizabeth Craft Designs Dies, Stencils and Paper, Clearsnap Dye Ink, Liquitex paint, Tombow Mono Multi liquidglue, thrift store scrabble tiles, Sakura Pens Here are the Elizabeth Craft Designs  supplies I used. Step1: using an ink applicator like this Clearsnap stylus with a foam tip, apply red inks to the cherry part of the stencil. Step 2: layer the stem part of the stencil over top so each stem aligns with a pair of cherries. You can easily see through the stencil to do this. Step 3: using green inks sponge the ink over the stem parts of the stencil This gives you a two colour finished image when you lift off…

Beach Life By AJ Otto I just love this photo of my daughter and her best friend.  It just exudes pure happiness, which they both are full of.  I think we have printed in and it’s in several frames in her room, it’s also one of her faves! So, it only makes sense to create a layout with it.  In years she will look back and remember the day it was taken, her relationship with her best friend, and the happiness they always shared when together.I started with a neutral base for my layout and wanted muted tones for the color palette, the swimsuits are full of bright pink color and didn’t want too much fighting with them. I thought that the “love life always” sentiment was just so fitting, so I made room to get it in the layout. For a few fun accents, I used beach appropriate dies.  The great…

Graphic 45 is known for their unique vintage style, with bold deco patterns. You might think that you could only use vintage photos to create heritage layouts, but that is just not true. Today I am sharing a layout that I created using 2 recent photos of our daughter Zoe. This collection is beautiful and can be for any type of photo you choose. Zoe has just graduated high school and is heading to university in Montreal in the fall. Where has the time gone? These photos, taken by a a photographer friend of hers, show more than ever just how grown up, beautiful and independent she has become. We are so proud of her. This collection from Graphic 45 suits that sentiment perfectly. Project Recipe: Graphic 45- Communique Collection: patterned papers, stickers, tag May Arts Ribbon- Ivory Burlap String Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock- Neutrals Clearsnap Colorbox Archival Dye Ink-…

Hello everyone! Jayme Loge here today! For my day job, I work in a school as an education assistant. In previous years, my assignment has been to provide literacy support to several classes. This meant working with several teachers and a rotating group of kids. Due to student needs, my assignment this past year has been in one classroom. It was a wonderful experience to work closely with one teacher and student group. I decided to get the kids together to work on a special end of the year gift for the teacher. They ended up creating this wonderful canvas! Supplies Used: Canvas- Michaels 16×20 Stencils- Donna Downey (Keyhole Splatter, Bubbles, Halftone Dots); Tim Holtz (Speckles, Lace) Paint- Ranger Dylusions Stamps- Frog’s Whiskers Ink Ink- Clearsnap We worked for weeks in a secret location, kids giving up their recess time in turn so everyone got a chance to contribute. The…

So, what do you do when you need to create in a hurry? Me, I turn to scrapbooking kits! I pulled out a couple of past kits from Scrapbooking Fanatics and got to work. I love kits because everything is together and coordinated and ready to go. All I had to do was pull photos from my already printed pile and start cutting paper. I created three layouts with one kit, and a fourth from another (which also uses this month’s Creative Scrapbooker sketch). Here are the results: Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are inspired and ready to get creating! The “Sweet” Life By AJ Otto My favorite thing about scrapbooking is preserving the every day moments.  The stuff you wont remember in the years ahead, the current favorites, likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc. This picture of my daughter is a pretty accurate depiction her at this time, life seems to be all about the phone, her music, and *fingers crossed*, a hot chocolate from Starbucks time permitting.  With extra whip of course. 😉 I started with some splatters of the silk luster just to create a slight break in the white background. I tend to keep my scrapping style to less is more, focusing on the pictures, and hopefully documenting the current event. Luckily, the size of the Spellbinders dies used make scrapbooking with the Spellbinders Prizm die cutting machine entirely possible. I decided on the focal point being her picture, and wanted a small border to ground the…
