Class registrations are open to everyone! You do not have to be a cropper to take a class.

Bevy of Backgrounds for Christmas and More

DESCRIPTION & INFORMATION

Let’s take your stamping a “stamping step” further. In this class, Cathie will show you the evolution of a series of great backgrounds. In building these 3 unique, and beautiful “shaped” Christmas Cards we will progressively add layers from the first card to the third. Layer by beautiful layer, using stamps, stencils, pigment and metallic inks, resist ideas, faux water color techniques and more we will build backgrounds and create fun embellishments to grace your projects. These ideas will move from season to season and from project to project. Cathie will show you how to combine all of the techniques in a scrapbook page layout that she will have on display.  When you get home you will be able to mix and match these techniques for truly original results.

Please bring to class: A stamping surface such as a foam mat, a newsprint pad or a desk mat, Adhesives, double-sided tape and foam tape or squares, Pencil, Eraser, Scissors, Ruler, Baby Wipes (alcohol free), Clear Mounts for using with the “cling style” stamps, Black bullet or chisel tipped marker; #3 Pointed Round Paint Brush or a detail water brush; Metal stylus with a small to medium ball meant for dry embossing; Soft surface, such as a mouse pad for dry embossing.

Brush Lettering Basics

Breathe. Write. Relax. In this workshop, you will be guided through a series of lettering exercises with brush pens and learn the beauty of artful calligraphy. Using Kelly’s specially designed tracing guide worksheets, you will learn the techniques of brush script lettering of the lowercase alphabet a – z that can be used on cards, scrapbook pages, art journals and more. All supplies are provided; however, you will have the opportunity to purchase an exclusive brush lettering starter kit at the end of class.

Hand-stitched Book of Friendship

DESCRIPTION & INFORMATION

Let’s create a sweet little book and fill it with love. We’ll stamp and stencil and write stories on the staggered pages. This is going to be a treasure that you’ll be excited to give your friend…. And you’ll love it so much, you’ll have to make another for yourself!
Although the theme for this book is friendship, it can be adjusted to family. Please bring about four small photos, no bigger than 2.5” x 3” or 64 x 76mm (or we can just insert placeholders so you may add photos at home) and a couple of short stories about your friend and the times you spent together.Please bring to class: Pigma Pen (or something that you want to write stories with), Cutting mat, Craft knife, Medium awl or tack, Bone folder, Metal edged ruler, Tweezers, Scissors, Pencil, Double – Sided Tape, Removable tape, Ink Blending tool or blending sponges, Stamp positioner if you have one, Your glasses for up-close work if you need them (I do!) Let’s create a journal cover and a matching note card using embossing and unembossing techniques that will rock your world. Using stamps and stencils and a new palette of pigment colours from Clearsnap, we will custom design the background and add colour to our unembossed images in a unique way that requires no markers. All this and more in this technique rich class that is sure to inspire. These ideas and techniques will transfer beautifully to further scrapbook pages or art journal pages

Introduction to Watercolour Lettering

Explore the beautiful world of watercolour lettering with easy to learn techniques. No experience is necessary for this watercolour workshop, where you will learn about letter styles and how to achieve some colourful effects, like rainbow and galaxy letters. Soon you will be using watercolour to create your own home décor with quotes and words. You will complete two watercolour monograms suitable for framing. Please bring: one fine or medium WATER BRUSH, any brand (Pentel Aquash, Kuretake, Sakura, etc).

Let’s make stuff! We all need cards and we love making them. Let’s stamp and stencil, foil, colour blend, inlay, mask and create flying elements. You’ll leave with finished cards and even more great ideas for variations to customize your next cards.

Please bring to class: Cutting mat, Craft knife, Gluestick, Bone folder, Metal edged ruler, Tweezers, Scissors, Pencil, Double – Sided Tape, Removable tape, Ink Blending tool or blending sponges, Stamp positioner if you have one, Scrap paper or wax paper or craft sheet, Your glasses for up-close work if you need them (I do!).

Mixed Media Double Page Collage Layout

DESCRIPTION & INFORMATION

This class is for scrapbookers looking for a double page layout to add a unique look to your albums. Nicole used Mixed Media elements to create this double page layout by layering paper, tags, stamping, gesso, distress crayons and stenciling. Bring your photos: 4×6 (2) and wallet sized printed on card stock so you can ink that too. Get a head start on your scrappy pages with mixed media influences.

Please bring to class: The usual cutter, scissors, adhesive (liquid, sticky tape), Foam Squares, 2 paint brushes for gesso and collage medium, Distress Crayons Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo or similar colours and Black Soot. Distress Ink: Black Soot for edging. Nicole will have stencils, but bring your own if you have a favourite, Craft mat, Baby wipes. There is a sink so you can clean your brushes. Print your photo’s on white cardstock, 2 4×6 and 1 wallet size. We will trim to size in class.

Nicole will have some supplies to share including collage medium, gesso, distress crayons black soot, peeled paint and vintage photo. You will need to have the other colours if you prefer a different colour combination.

Eclectric Collage Canvas

DESCRIPTION & INFORMATION

Join Nicole for this mess making canvas. You will be covered in gesso and scribbling with crayons. For some added fun, you will collage some paper and a bunch of findings. Nicole will have emptied her stash and will bring it for you to sift through to create your own fun canvas. Just think about the possibilities of what you learn that will add uniqueness to your future projects.

Please bring to class: Cutter; Scissors; Adhesive (liquid, sticky tape, hot glue if you have it); 2 paint brushes for gesso and collage medium; Distress Crayons: Broken China, Pumice Stone, Spiced Marmalade or similar colours and Black Soot is a must; Distress Ink Black Soot for edging. Nicole will have stencils but bring your own if you have a favourite; Craft mat, Baby wipes; There is a sink so you can clean your brushes.

Nicole will have some supplies to share including collage medium, gesso, distress crayons black soot and pumice stone. You will need to have the other colours. Keep in mind that Nicole is bringing a variety of goodies to add to your canvas.
