I’m getting all caught up with my Sketchy Challenges…it feels good! I love working with sketches, it takes the toughest part of scrapbooking out of the picture-the design! Once that part is dealt with the creative juices can flow. Here is our September Sketch, designed by Kelly Klapstein, that was the starting point for my page. For this layout I wanted to play with my newly purchased Nuance Pigment Powders from Magenta. It was the first time I played with them after hearing about them through Christy Riopel at our Edmonton carnival. They are FUN to say the least and I look forward to using them more and learning other applications with them. I masked off three boxes and used the Nuance powders to colour them…I really should have used a small amount of Gesso on my cardstock, but I forgot…it’s a learning process! Had I used the Gesso my…

Summers in Canada are short! As such, we Canadians pack as much as we can into two or three months, making them very busy! That explains why I am sharing my July sketch in August! Enough said! July’s sketch was a simple grid, easy to work with. There really is so much you can do with this type of sketch, it’s a jumping board to creative fun! I chose to offset my grid and use three pictures! I was pleased with the end results. My four-legged Bella is often a willing subject for scrapbook pages, not so much for laying on the ground while camping! This layout came easily together using the Simple Stories – Life Documented collection And I stuck everything down using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L This sketch designed by Sue Sykes, was her last for us in the Sketchy Challenges. She has provided us with…

I don’t know what it is, but Graphic 45 papers make me pull out my sharpest scissors and start fussy cutting! The images on some of these papers from Botanical Tea collection made fantastic embellishments for my layout. One of my favourite things I LOVE about Graphic 45 collections is that they layer so easily. I think as scrapbookers, especially if new to the craft; layering can be the hardest thing. Graphic 45 has nailed it! Fantastic combinations of large and small prints in color harmony make it simple for everyone to work with. Add to the mix [my title] some Core’dinations Signature Series cardstock; colours designed to work with the Graphic 45 palette and you have a match made in scrapbooker’s heaven! My layout below is an example of how easily these products all play together. I have also distressed the edges of some of my papers with Stampin’…

Just a quick share for you today. I have been working with Sue’s February Sketchy Challenge and stayed fairly true to the design, but always try to add my own spin to them. The papers I used are from BoBunny’s “Souvenir Collection”, it has one sheet that is an entire alphabet; from that sheet I fussy cut the title “WINE”. I inked up a few stencils with Clearsnap Fluid Chalk inks and painted the Magenta Chipboard “gears” with Viva Décor Inka Gold paint. The uneven borders are hand drawn and Zentangled with a Sharpie marker. Be sure to share how you use the sketch in our gallery!

Happy Tuesday everyone! Kim here to share a heartfelt layout with you today! It has been ten months since our dear Java left us for “puppy fields in the sky” and I still am surprised to come home and not be greeted by her, 14 years of unconditional love forms routines! My process for this page came together easily, I think because the subject is so dear to my heart. I had saved some of the thoughtful cards sent to us when we had to put Java down. I think originally I couldn’t throw them out because it made her passing so final and I was genuinely surprised that people had sent them, after all to some she was “just a dog”. When I came across the Graphic 45 paper collection “Raining Cats & Dogs”, I knew it was time to pull the cards out to save forever! This paper…
