I know you are going to LOVE IT! Faux Mini-Canvases by Cathie Allan In this issue, we are going to create β€œfaux mini-canvases.” This special combination of background colours and the way we apply the ink layer after layer will totally have you thinking that we worked on canvas. In reality, we have simply worked on Creative Scrapbooker Super Stockβ€”the cardstock of my inking and rubber stamping dreams. We are using pigment inkβ€”the most light-fast stamping medium there isβ€”so you will be able to enjoy them for a long, long time. I invite you to use the techniques we are stepping out for you today on your favourite craft projectβ€”a card, a scrapbook page, a knock-out art journal page or any crafting project…

Hi everyone, Cathie Allan here on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog, with a few, bright, spring projects. SPRING is just around the corner and with the days getting longer , the sun shining brighter I just NEEDED to play with some fun bright colors from Clearsnap and some β€œspring like” images from Stampendous. I did not know what I wanted to create so I created 3 projects thinking I would share with you my favorite. Well … I could not decide which one was β€œmy favorite” so I am sharing all 3 projects with you. I have photographed each project separately and posted those photos at the end of this blog.It all began with these rubber stamp images from Stampendous, plus a gorgeous new metal stencil.Media of choice was my Pinwheel Petal Point and re-inkers from Clearsnap, my ColorBox stylus and foam tips and a ColorBox black pigment stamp pad…

Hello everyone – Cathie Allan here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog playing with the Sunset pigment ink petal point collection from Clearsnap. Events …. I love events. I love watching everyone get together as friends to enjoy their hobbies, their passions. At a scrapbooking/papercrafting event the sharing of ideas is amazing. From the moment they unpack their tools and toys, sit down and begin creating the sharing begins. Everyone learns from each other and then there is the classes, the demos, the make’n takes that you can participate in to further the creative experience of the event at the Winnipeg, β€œScrapchicks” gone wild event, I taught two classes and did a make’n take in the booth where I taught a fun background technique and they created a Christmas tag using that technique. As I teach, I create with them so I ended up with a β€œpile” of tags…

That’s a wrap!! The Great Canadian Scrapbooking Carnivals are done for another wonderful year. For those of you that attended, I hope I got to meet you, greet you & or hug you. I know you ALL had an amazing time as the smiles were countless and the laughter sometimes deafening! I know you did some GREAT stamping and paper crafting because I saw the floor after you were all done !!! For those of you who did not make it …. MAKE IT Β NEXT YEAR!! You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. For myself, I was busy sharing ideas and fun stamping & inking techniques the whole weekend, through classes and demos.Β  I demo in the Creative Scrapbooking Magazine booth of course and while I β€œplay”, I am blessed to spend time with amazing paper crafters who simply love to take a stamp to paper, creating cards, scrapbook pages, art journals…

Are you already thinking about Christmas cards? I sure am! In fact, I already have all the supplies ready to go to create the Creative Scrapbook Magazine handmade cards to mail to all our advertisers, store owners and team members! Each and every year at The Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnivals – my mom and dad – create our Christmas cards for us! Β I am so lucky. This year is no exception. When you attend our events, you will see them both scrapbooking away in the crop area creating hundreds of Christmas cards. YES I am very spoiled πŸ™‚ Cathie Allan This year the beautiful and extremely talented Cathie Allan will once again be teaching at both our events in Calgary and Edmonton. Her classes are PACKED with years of stamping and inking knowledge. Β Everything she creates starts with white cardstock. YEP – plain old white cardstock. She teaches you to…

SISTER TIME! Hello everyone – Cathie Allan here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. Time with those you love is so very precious. The very cool thing about scrapbooking is when we create those memories we can β€œkeep them forever” in a visual form that we get to enjoy the rest of our lives. We DO NOT have to rely on our β€œless than perfect” memory. PLUS we have the shear joy of living that memory repeatedly not only as we create but every time we take them out to reminisce.Β  My two beautiful daughters were recently together in Mexico for some very special β€œsister time”. My girls have been best friends since they were little and as a mom, I feel very blessed to live their trip through the photos they shared with me. To create this page I used techniques that I will be teaching in one…

HELLO SUMMER! Hey everyone, – Cathie Allan here – thought I would share with you a totally fun and easy card that you can create in the wee hours of the morning. Why? … in the β€œwee hours of the morning?” ….. well, because, it is May 23rd and it is behaving like summer outside so we NEED to spend β€œsome” of our β€œcrafting time” in our gardens and on our deck. Β Β I used totally β€œdoable” stamping techniques toΒ  create a fun, shape card that β€œwanted to be a slider card”. Β The background was simply stamped using a wonderful solid, daisy stamp from Impression Obsession and two fabulous pigment colors from Clearsnap. Since it was pigment ink, I was able to stamp the darker, Antique Pewter images first and then stamp the lighter, Buttercup images on top of the dark color.Β  Pigment ink allows me to do this and I…

YES …. my Cathie Allan Position-it has had an upgrade.Β  I have loved my Position-it for many years. Loved that it was two tools in one. It was a tool that worked as a positioner, allowing you to place images β€œexactly” where you wanted them on your project AND allowed you to stamp an image, over and over and over again in exactly the same place thus opening up endless possibilities with my favourite art tools, my rubber stamps. Loved that it works on ALL sizes of paper. Loved that it worked with wood mounted rubber stamps, cling rubber stamps AND clear rubber stamps. Sounds amazing right … YES it was and YES …. it still IS but now …. it allows me to do even more.Β  In essence … it simply makes stamping easier and even more β€œfunner” (yes, I know that is not a word (yet) I like…
