It’s 7am and I’ve just gotten home from an early morning bootcamp. I’ve never understood “those people” that are up at the crack of dawn until now. I get it. I’ve showered, exercised and I already have a load of laundry in the washer while the children are still dreaming of lollipops and rainbows. Productivity at its finest. But the best part of this new routine is that I have a few moments of peace with a steaming hot cup of coffee before chaos ensues. I usually catch up on some blog reading or update my to do lists. Today is a little different and quite delightful. I have a brand new Stampin’ Up! catalogue to devour. I will be making a large wish list with my new ‘be amazing’ pen and it feels like Christmas. You got it. June 2nd is “New Catalogue Release Day.” I was lucky enough to have…

Since Spring has yet to be sprung here in Newfoundland, I found myself at a scrapbook retreat last weekend. Many of you are likely to be doing this over the next month. One way to prepare yourself for a crop is to create kits out of your own stash. Ain’t nobody got time for that. But kits that are already created for you… I can do that. Gosh, even YOU can do that! I tossed my Hooray It’s Your Day Simply Created kit by Stampin’ Up! as well as my Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper in an organized fashion into my crop bag and off I went. Note that the Painted Blooms DSP was showcased here last month – be sure to check that out if you missed it. Yes, I am still hoping that by playing with flowery paper, a beautiful flower will magically appear on my front lawn…

Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper If I won the lottery I would do three things: Get a live-in cook or at least go out to extravagant restaurants on a regular basis…or both. Hire a personal photographer to document the events in our lives Buy fresh flowers for multiple rooms in my home every week So, you’d think that if I would do #3, then I must love flowers in paper crafts. Not so. In fact, I cringe at the thought of a flower on my page… even worse a butterfly. Yet… here I am. The minute I opened my Stampin’ Up! box, I went down in my craft room to see what the Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper what all about. Maybe it’s because spring is never coming here in Newfoundland.   I am pretty sure we are skipping summer all together. Sure, spring came just last week when it was…

Hi all, I look at this picture and I see my daughter’s energy explode off the paper. I see fun. I see beauty. I see youth. Most certainly, I see happy. And that was the inspiration for my layout this month. I started out with a 12×12 sheet of the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Paper by Stampin’ Up! It has a glossy resist pattern that I thought could be fun. (Side note: This is one of the exclusive Sale-a-bration products that can be yours with a $60 order) In my typical lazy style, I decided to “see what happen” I squeezed some refill ink over the paper. Yes, it did go through the paper because I didn’t want to apply a layer of gesso over top of the glossy resist… it certainly wasn’t my smartest idea. After I realized that this wasn’t going to work without watercolour paper, I grabbed a…

Honestly now. How cute is this herd? Although these are simple cards, colouring can sometimes take time. Truthfully, I don’t feel like colouring in detail most of the time. Anything that takes time is not my style. (Patience, much?) Instead, I’ll stamp several images on some white cardstock and colour while watching one of my favourite shows. And let’s get serious… January is unofficially “camp out and watch TV” month. So, how did I do it? These are Stampin’ Up! Blendabilities markers. They are alcohol based and come in sets of three, which includes a light, medium and dark shade. They have them in packs of three because it takes all the guesswork out of how to blend and shade. There is a knack to colouring and blending but my rule of thumb is always – colour what looks “right” to you. You can think about the light source and…

It’s 2015 and guess what? I got another year older. This year, my aging friends and I decided to have a DIY gift exchange (don’t ask… we don’t even know what we were trying to achieve). With little time and my box of new Stampin’ Up! goodies from the Occasions catalog, I created my gift… several years of embarrassing pictures in one tiny album. Introducing…. the amazing “So You Project Kit” from Stampin’ Up! This kit comes with twenty 4×4” page protectors, a mini kraft album, “wood-sy” patterned paper, washi, wood veneers, window sheets, epoxy stickers.. and so much more! Sorry… embarrassing photos are not included! I am not re-inventing the wheel here but instead providing you a quick an easy way to cross off your New Years Scrapbooking Resolutions’ Project List. I am always looking for an easy way for everything – rather than get out my sewing machine…

WOW!! To have reached 50,000 followers on Facebook is quite an achievement! Way to go Canadian Scrapbooker!! I couldn’t be prouder to be part of such an amazing and talented team. Congratulations from the bottom of my heart! With a red coffee cup in hand, I set out to take on the world. “Well. Hello December.” I’ve been obsessed with the new Hello December Project Life © by Stampin’ Up! card and accessory kit. I cannot wait to start documenting this merry month using these kits inside a 6×8” cherry cobbler album. I am showing the cover today and will gradually show bits and pieces of the rest of the month. Make sure you stay tuned to my blog and CS to see continued updates of my pages as I move through the month. On this album cover, I heat embossed the snowflakes using the Project Life © December Wonder stamp…

Hi all! It’s Cathy Caines here to share some fun Halloween projects featuring Stampin’ Up! The ghosts and goblins have been out to play in my backyard since September began. I love to create for Halloween!!   It could be that I get giddy at the thought of candy or that I have an excuse to search Pinterest for cool costume ideas. Regardless, if you have Halloween on your mind, here are some fun ideas using Stampin’ Up! products. First, you need a banner – this banner was created using the Chalkboard Banner Simply Created Kit. I used white Staz-On and stencils to create the word ‘BOO’, as well as rubbed it around the edges. This gave it a more spooky feel but chalk would also do the trick. My daughter would say that treats are the most important thing and most definitely the priority. I couldn’t agree more. I created this…

Watercolouring is everywhere right now, and I am just drinking up all its wonder and glory. I want to show you how amazingly quick and easy these cards are!! To create this card you have three simple steps: On watercolour paper, stamp an image with Versamark and heat emboss it with white embossing powder. Apply heat with your heat gun. Stamp your block with your ink pad. Fill your aqua painter brush with water. Dip brush in ink and colour on your paper using brush strokes (see supply picture below) Use a heat gun to dry if you want but it’s not necessary. Gently wipe off any ink on your stamped image.Voila!! To up the stakes a little bit, this next card was created by inking the stamp and then misting the inked stamp with water. You can ink the stamp using markers or refill ink – whatever you prefer.…

Recently, Stampin’ Up! has joined forces with Becky Higgins to develop an amazing Project Life by Stampin’ Up! product line. These exclusive products include items such as the 4×6, 4×4, and 3×4 cards, embellishments, alphas, stamp sets, punches, framelits and more. I am here to show you why Project Life can work for you! Many people find that the Project Life system helps them create beautiful scrapbook pages without spending hours on a single page. Although, I believe this is very true, it isn’t why I love it… I adore traditional scrapbooking because I feel like the page is my piece of art – my canvas. However, there are times when I simply have too many photos. For example, I take a huge amount of pictures during family events as I try to annoy everyone as much as humanly possible capture special moments with family and friends. These are the…
