In loving memory of Christy Riopel – here is a blog post from Feb 2013 that was featured on our blog. It is written in Christy’s words. Making a Ribbon Mat for Your Page I love the texture of ribbons and I am always looking for a new way to use it on my page. In this layout I created a mat with pieces of May Arts ribbons. I started with Be Creative Sookwang double sided tape, a big pile of awesome May Arts ribbon and a piece of scrap chipboard. I then put two strips of tape down each side of the chipboard. I cut several strips of ribbon just a bit longer then the chipboard. I attached the strips to the tape on one side. Wrapped it around the front and then attached it to the other side. I added some sheer ribbons and smaller ribbons over top of the…

Here is a blog post from April 2012 that Christy created – in her words. She sure loved art journaling – and we sure loved what she created. I was recently asked, “Why should a scrapbooker take time to art journal?” The answer is simple. An art journal is a place to make mistakes, experiment with mediums, looks, and just play. Very often I take ideas I have developed in my art journal and turn them into Scrapbook pages. I took the above page and turned it into this layout. Materials Used: Fancy Pants paper and Rub Ons, Bazzill cardstock, ChromaColour Paint, Marvy Pen, 3L Adhesives How I did it…. To create this fun frame I first placed a scrap of paper in the middle of where I wanted my frame. Next I took paint and sponged it along the edges sporadically. When done sponging I lifted it and replaced…

Here is a layout I found in the CSM archives Christy created years ago. Christy created this layout for a feature we were going to run many years ago about our CS Team’s individual scrapbooking spaces. It was one of those features that didn’t fly. The layouts were archived for a rainy day. We never wrote down the supplies that Christy used to create this layout. One thing is for certain – Christy loved her art studio. So did we! Here is a blog post from Christy from a few years ago for you to enjoy. Written in Christy’s words. The other day I was working on this layout with the fabulous paper and embellishments from FarmHouse Paper company and May Arts ribbon and I really felt like the beautiful rustic quality needed to be accented and off set with a little glitter. Perplexed with how to add it, I decided not to over think it and grabbed my trusty Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L tape runner and added stripes of the tape runner over the paper. I then poured Craft& Glitz Glamour Glitter all over the tape and burnished it with my finger. I poured off the excess glitter and my paper was ready to build my layout on top off. The glittery stripes add a great level of texture and interest. This simple technique, done with a versatile adhesive…
