Hello, Connie Nichol here today with two simple shimmery cards featuring Always and Forever, two of the new dies released by Elizabeth Craft Designs and designed by Suzanne Cannon of Quietfire Design. You can use them separately as I did here, put them together with an ampersand or add hearts from the Calligraphic Elements 2 dies. These would be great for wedding or anniversary cards. These were very simple to make but I love the way they turned out. I started by dabbing Izink pigment ink (manufactured by Aladine and distributed through Clearsnap) through an Elizabeth Craft Designs stencil to make the ‘patterned’ paper. You could use any ink but I love the shimmer and the gorgeous colour of the Izink ink. Then, I dry embossed Shimmer Sheetz with a Close to My Heart embossing folder to give the sheetz some pattern and texture. The CTMH embossing…
Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a summer layout featuring digital cut files and a stamp from Quietfire Design. A few years ago my boys decided to canoe (i.e. float) down the North Saskatchewan River. They launched in Edmonton, and I was instructed to pick them up downstream in three hours time. Unfortunately, the river was quite low and the current slow, and it took a lot longer than the predicted three hours. Of course, my husband had no cell phone with him so I had no idea where the canoe was. I waited and I waited and they finally showed up…… phew. They have never repeated that particular adventure. I love the versatility of having an electronic die cutting machine. It’s amazing. Need a canoe to embellish a canoeing layout? Presto, wave the magic wand and cut a canoe, paddles and water with your Sizzix Eclips 2. Any…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a heritage wedding layout featuring FabScraps papers and embellishments, a beautiful Remember word and stitched circle dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs and a romantic stamp from Quietfire Designs. I found this photograph of my grandparents wedding in a shoe box. Both of my grandparents passed away quite some time ago and I think it is important to capture the who, what, when before all the details are forgotten. Actually, if the date of the wedding was not written on the back of the photo, I would have had no idea when they got married. I was totally inspired by the May Sketch by Kelly Klapstein in the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine’s sketchy challenge. Sketches are such a fast way to get started on a new layout. I flipped this one and used a paper doily from the dollar store for the circular element. This sketch…
