This week we’re heading to Ontario to visit Karrie Sweet’s craft room! I LOVE that she has just “found” us and has so quickly decided to share with us! It appears from her pictures that her craft room is FULL, just like her life! Look closely at all the storage ideas she shares, and of course check out how adorable her cat is!
I stumbled across your site, and am so happy to have done so! I didn’t even know there was a Canadian Scrapbooking Magazine; though I did know there were lots of wonderfully talented Canadian ladies. I have always enjoyed looking at other crafty spaces and would like to share mine.
I live in Ontario, and am a full time receptionist. My hubby and I enjoy travelling; motor-bikes, camping/boating, and I play beach and indoor volleyball. I started scrapping in 2001 when I made an album of our Dominican trip: to my dad and step-mom’s wedding (read: an extremely basic album with rudimentary supplies – construction paper, glitter glue and stencils! LOL).
In 2009 we made some changes at home, my hubby suggested I take the little bedroom for a craft room and I jumped at the idea! A few years later my son moved out and I expanded into his room. Last year we redid the basement and now my space is a beautiful 11×20 room, packed tight! I intended to have matching furniture, but I seem to have collected some cast-offs. It was intended to have a red, purple and black colour scheme, so it’s sort of here and there. It is definitely not this neat all the time, these were taken when I first got settled in! I am lucky enough to enjoy it every weekend when we do not have other plans.
This is at the back of the room; this is the computer desk my hubby made, and a stand with tools and beading supplies.
So turn around and you see this; except this table now has a flip-thru scrap rack with my “scrap-bible” how tos, project ideas, sketches, etc.
Close-up of the desk/table area. My favourite layouts are stored under a plexiglas sheet and the plastic bins under the table contain punches and borders/journal cards.
More wooden stands made by hubby house small embellishments. Those hatboxes are not kept there anymore, but they contain all my ribbons by colour; indicated by the wrap and pin. The dresser (1/2 in the pic) has all my chipboard. And of course Mini the scrappy cat needs to have a basket to squeeze into somewhere !
Under the window the 6′ bookcase stores all my themed supplies and other doo-dads.
This is the opposite wall, I have an additional cupboard there now; one has sewing supplies and premade things, the other has albums. There’s also a new bookshelf that has the ribbon hat-boxes and d-ring albums that are too big for the cupboard. I LOVE my “spinny” that I bought from a store closeout, 4 sides store dimensionals, stickers, felt, bling, rub-ons and die cut packages. Thank you for your time! Keep posting the fun rooms as long as you are able! Karrie

I especially love that you’ve incorporated your cat into the space. My cat, Mr. Scraggles (aka Muggies) comes in occasionally to play with ribbon and bits of paper. He’s a bit too high strung to stay for long.
Wow, you sure can pack stuff in! Great playroom!
I love the kitty!!!! boy you have a great room, I would love to come over and play!
Wow. I wish I could have half of that storage for all of my things:) Looks good!
