Hello everyone – Kerry Engel here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. The Kraft Slimline Toner Card Fronts from Therm O Web are the perfect substrate for some good old grunge. The kraft paper withstands embossing, folding, and inking like a champ. The Therm O Web Deco Foil Transfer Sheets in Opal is mysteriously different depending on how it was used. On the black toner front, it is moody but when used with the Therm O Web iCraft Deco Foil Transfer Gel Blanco, it looks like pearls. Layers of collaging help to create the perfect mixed media card. Here are the steps to create this gorgeous card!
FOIL AND EMBOSS
The top layer of this card was made by adding Therm O Web Deco Foil Transfer Sheets in Opal to a Slimline Foil Toner Card Front and then running the card through an embossing folder. I used the Bouquet embossing folder, by Elizabeth Crafts Designs. CREATE A BASE
A base 11 x 23 cm (4 1/4 x 9 inches) card was created with a kraft coloured cardstock. Don’t forget to double those dimensions and fold the card shape in half.
FANCY FOLD
To create the fold start 8 cm (3 1/4 inches) from the bottom right of the card front. Create the double flap and secure it with a staple. FOIL UNDER THE FOLD
Apply the Therm O Web Transfer Gel Blanco through and a Therm O Web Rina K. Designs – Sending Sunshine Stencil to the card base. When it’s dry (it will take about an hour) put the Opal foil on top of dried gel and run it through a laminator. The Blanco is meant for coloured cardstock, it makes the Opal Foil really stand out. The Blanco requires a laminator for the foil to attach. CREATE A TAG
Stamp and emboss the Picket Fence Studios Hello Stamp then cut out a tag or rectangle shape. Ink the edges of the tag with Vintage Photo Oxide Ink and the Life-Changing Blender Brush from Picket Fences Studios. Rubbing the embossed card front lightly with ink will make the design show up a bit better. I attached a piece of jute to the tag.
I added a drop shadow with a white Zebra Sarasa Clip Gel ink pen.CUT SOME BRANCHES AND CREATE A BUNDLE
My card needed something black in colour to ground the design so I simply pulled out my Tonic Studios Pro Cut Scissors and cut myself some branches. I made an embellishment bundle from a piece of old book and dictionary paper, a piece of a paper bag, and burlap. I stapled them together once I figured out their placement. Using the Therm O Web iCraft Mixed Media Adhesive, I glued my bundle under my card front and my tag to the top. I added a few Tonic Studio Nvuo Crystal drops to finish it off. I put my card under a book so all the pieces would dry flat. It is a really unique card perfect for any occasion. Happy scrapping everyone, and have a great day!
