Happy Friday, our first of the summer! Hope your week has been wonderful! I also hope by now you’ve had a chance to check out our new updated website! We are THRILLED with the look. It’s fresh, fun and so easy to find your way around. If you haven’t had the chance to take the tour, I highly recommend it! You won’t be disappointed!
Today we get to visit Tanja’s gorgeous space. Lots of attention to detail here, so be sure to take it all in.
My happy place (a.k.a. oasis / mental spa / escape pod) is a spare bedroom. Lucky me! Just mine and everyone else is barred without approval. I know precisely when there has been an unauthorized visitor to “borrow” a stapler, scissors or pen; as they leave evidence behind. Bless their souls, but they always seem to take the fine tip precious scissors to cut hard, plastic packaging with!
It is the smallest room in the house, but big enough. I have moved through the house a few times; from the large rec room in the basement to a guest room (darker) and then to this room. It feels better and a bit cosier. Everything is a few steps away. It is next to the rec room (so near the kids playing) and a short jog from the laundry for washing stencils and brushes, far from the kitchen and all sorts of temptation.
The simple Ikea shelves hold a ton of product; easily disguised in baskets, boxes, or just open. Sort by sort! Stamps, inks, paints, books, paper, embellishments all have their own departments on different shelves. All categories together, if it is not there, I don’t own it yet. I stash stickers, rub ons, alphabet stickers, and flat embellishments in plastic sleeve type files. Letters by colour! A touch of OCD here, but so much easier to find! Paper by colour! Small thingies (brads, pins….) in plastic clear fish tackle type containers, stacked. You’ve guessed it, type by type! Colour by colour!
The best part is the island. It is the perfect standing height with incredible storage. One side has an overhang for sitting with a drafter’s chair. I can move the island around where ever I want.
The cupboard also has storage above and hanging clips from above for special projects. The folding doors hide all sins.
The decor is everything I love…photos of best friends, children, hubby and godchildren, recipe book holders for displaying my most recent efforts, beautiful art, a dress form, old baby shoes, angels and the most gorgeous chandelier.
Happy place indeed.

I have been blessed to have been in this crafty space. Like Tanja said it is small, but it is most definitely effective!! The space is inspiring, warm and inviting!! Congrats Tanja 🙂
