Hi everyone, Kim here today. I just finished working on a layout using October 2016, sketchy challenge. If my memory is good…that means I have used every sketch from 2016! Bring on 12 more for 2017! I LOVE them.

Here is October’s sketch; my starting point.

My completed layout below makes me smile, I love the Simple Stories product I used…It’s whimsical and sweet.

My layout started like many of mine do, on a piece of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine’s Superstock. I love to build up from the basics and seem to be drawn to the contrast the white gives me when playing with other products!

My first layer was created using a TCW stencil and Clearsnap’s Colorbox chalk inks. From there, I positioned my picture. I will usually just add adhesive to the center back of my photo leaving the edges free to slip embellishments under.

I added several little bits and pieces until I felt I had enough [that is always the toughest part…when to stop!] Another thing I find myself doing a lot lately is writing my journaling on scored lines! It adds some texture and is easy to follow…it doesn’t look quite as dark in real life as the picture shows [our cameras are so efficient at capturing details our brains don’t focus on!]

I wasn’t quite ready to pack away all this fun Simple Stories product, so I made a quick card as well. Again, the sketch was the starting point! A simple idea that looks so nice is to cover the flap of your envelope with coordinating paper! I just add some Tombow Mono adhesive to the flap, add a piece of paper larger than the flap and cut it down using the flap as my guide after the adhesive dries. A little sticker adds the finishing touch!
