Happy July 1st everyone! Connie Nichol here with a patriotic red and white Canada Day layout. I was briefly tempted to use non-traditional colours, but just couldn’t do it. LOL I used the July Canadian Scrapbooker sketchy challenge sketch as a starting point. It looks like this: I decided to start with a base of Core’Dinations Spotted cardstock. It looks so lovely and textured, especially when you sand a tiny bit off of the top. The other day I saw that Rhonda Steed had some free Canada day printables up on her blog (hot link www.rhondasteed.com) and I was totally inspired to use a couple of these project life typecards as part of my layout. Good Monday morning everyone! Connie Nichol here with a blog post featuring Sizzix Elegant Flourishes Bigz die, DCWV Coral Couture Paper Stack, Clearsnap Ink and Embossing Powder I am slowly scanning my dad’s 35 mm slides from my childhood, wanting to scrapbook them while I can still remember some of the details, or at least verify them with my parents. The colours and patterns seem to go perfectly with my pictures from the 1970’s and I love that there is a matching cardstock stack. I find the DCWV paper to be so gorgeous that it pretty much stands alone without much embellishment. So, I left the layout very simple, just adding a bit of fussy cutting and some metallic chipboard flourishes. The flourishes were just the perfect touch for this patterned paper. Hello everyone! Connie Nichol here with more great Frugal ideas! Today I wanted to share a great idea from a scrapbooker in Sweden, Lisa Fitzmaurice Prokupa. Scrapbooking supplies are very very expensive in Sweden, so Lisa is always keeping an eye out for frugal options. While scrapbooking some photos from Hong Kong, she wanted to find an embellishment to capture the effect of bamboo and came up with the idea to use kebab bamboo sticks. Inexpensive and found right in her kitchen drawer! Thanks for sharing! Hi everyone! Jodi Wilton here today to share with you one of my favourite Fancy Pants Designs Collections: Be Different. I couldn’t resist digging into this collection to showcase how wonderful it is to use for the little boys in your life. I am lucky enough to have several cute little “monsters” in the daycare that would suit this collection perfectly! Here is the layout I created: I love working in grid patterns lately, so I started the layout by creating a base of 6 X 6 inch squares. I then added my three photos in the centre, and finally all the fun embellishments that come with this collection! Summer is almost here and that means Sunglasses…. and no one loves them more than my Ashley. I love scrapbooking day to day photos like this. I used: Simple Stories patterned paper, tags, and stickers, Sizzix stamps, dies and embossing folders, Clearsnap Surfacez inks, and Stephanie Barnard Sprays, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. I stamped the Sizzix flags onto a Simple Stories card and used the Sizzix co-ordinating dies to cut them out. I love the versatility of this set. I also used a Sizzix embossing folder on two other cards from the same pack and layered them behind my photo to create texture. I love to get as much as I can out of my supplies, so I cut up the border of the Simple Stories alpha sticker sheet into little square stickers and attached them to the page. Think Spring! Featuring BoBunny Woodland Winter and Quietfire Design Stamps In my part of Canada, we have plenty of winter, and plenty of snow, but usually the only time of year when the snow is melty enough to stick together and build a snowman is spring. It’s too bad, really, because that also usually means that the snowman will not stick around for long. The higher sun angle and warmer temperatures during this time of year typically result in his rapid disappearance into a large puddle of icy water. The snowman building process is still fun though, especially if you use delicious cookies for eyes and buttons. I found a couple of photos from when my boys were little that brought back these memories. I was inspired to scrapbook them with the April sketch from the Canadian Scrapbooker sketchy challenge and some stunning papers and embellishments from BoBunny.…
Hi everyone! Jodi Wilton here today to share with you a quick card made with FabScraps & Spellbinders! I put these two together because I thought FabScraps, would be a perfect match for the Spellbinders Shapeabilities- Asian Motifs: I started off by cutting a black cardstock base and adding some FabScraps paper, just inside the base. I sewed around the FabScraps paper for some extra detail. I then used the largest die from the Spellbinders Asian Motif with some FabScraps paper, and layered a square to fit just inside it. (I also sewed around this square for extra detail). Finally the Romantic Travel Die Cut book is awesome! I used a luggage tag and added a bit of paper in it and sewed around the luggage tag. I also got out a FabScraps butterfly Chipboard to add to the card. The next step was to adhere the layers…
Hello everyone – Desiree Saskiw here on the blog today! This was my first crack at a mixed media project! As I dug through my supplies looking for products to use I came across the Spellbinders shapeabilites “Sweet Treats” diecut template as well as the Heartfelt Creations “Sun Kissed Fleur” custom design template. I then grabbed the matching Heartfelt Creations “Sun Kissed Collection” paper pack and set to work! I was very pleased with the flowers that I got from the die cut template and how they added great dimension to my piece. I also loved the Spellbinders lemonade cup, which gives subtle tribute to my friends innate ability to turn “lemons in to lemonade!” My friend in the photograph is soon turning 40 so I figured that instead of giving her a bunch of flowers that will wither and die, why not create a scrapbooked, lasting bouquet!
