The Christy Riopel Art Scholarship

Category

Today we are looking back to our Spring 2014 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine – Christy Riopel designed this breathtaking layout called – Never Give Up – featuring Clearsnap Smooch Spritz. I recently ran across this quote – “It’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.” Christy gave us so much beyond her amazing art. Keep on scrapbooking those beautiful memories and have a wonderful saturday. Creative Scrapbooker Magazine is honoured to announce that we have started an ART Scholarship in Christy’s name. For those of you interested in honouringΒ Christy Riopel and helping her legacy of ART continue, we are collecting donations for art scholarships for youth through the Boys & Girls Club of Calgary. This saturday we are going way back to the Fall of 2012 – Christy Riopel’s Tool Junkie article featuring the Stampin’ Up! Simply Scored scoring tool. Here is one of the layouts she designed that I love and a little tutorial from the article itself. SUPPLIES: Bazzill Basics Paper cardstock, Fancy Pants Designs patterned paper, rub-ons, stickers and transparency, Clearsnap ink, Stampin’ Up! Simply Scored Tool, unknown staples, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. Photo by Ashley Pudo. One thing that I love about scrapbooking – this article is 5 years old – but yet the technique and tools are very much trendy today. Β Go through your stash – make OLD – NEW again! Christy would love that. Happy Scrapbooking everyone. Creative Scrapbooker Magazine is honoured to announce that we have started an ART Scholarship in Christy’s name. This week we are featuring a blog post Christy did for Creative Scrapbooker Magazine on July 22 2014 – written in her own words. Chalkboard embellishments are all the rage right now and I love Core-dinations ColorCore cardstocks new Chalk Core Paper for making my own embellishments! I used Core’dinations Color Core cardstock, Spellbinders dies, Clearsnap Izinks, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Simple Stories stickers, Prima Marketing flowers, Xyron Sticker MakersΒ and Marvy gel pens. I cut out and embossed several shapes from the Chalk Core paper using my dies. To make it easier to sand the very fine cuts I first ran them through my Xyron sticker maker. Leaving the cut out on the backing I then sanded the embossed die cuts making them look like beautiful fine chalk work!! I then added them to my layout over a layer of Clearsnap Izinks. I added a very old, vintage photo…

This week we will be featuring a blog post Christy created for us 3 years ago. When to stop and when not to? by Christy Riopel January always makes me a little introspective and I tend to scrapbook more interpersonal stuff this time of year. I created this layout about dealing with the old(er) girl in the mirror these days. SUPPLIES: FabScraps pattened paper and chipboard, Aladine Izink inksΒ distributed byΒ Clearsnap, May Arts ribbon, Impression Obsession stamps, ColorBox Surfacez ink by Clearsnap, Spellbinders dies and Grand Calibur die cutting machine, Dymo Label Maker, Ranger Industries gel pen, Beacon Adhesives. It ended up being an exploration in not just one hard question ( when did I get this old?) but in another unrelated question I often face….. When do I stop? When is enough on a layout? Here is a picture of what It looked like when I first thought it was…

Here is the last web show we filmed with Christy Riopel.
