These past week, I remembered. I remembered what I have no first hand knowledge about. I remembered brave men and women I have never met. I celebrated the safety and freedom of my life. Today, my heart overflows with gratitude for the bravery and sacrifice of others. Thank-you. A few years ago, we were able to spend Canada Day in Ottawa. What an experience that was! I loved the ceremony and the pride and joy swelling from the crowds. I bet you are wondering why I am reminiscing about Canada Day on Remembrance Day. It is simply because we stopped at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on that day. I guess I just felt the need to look at those photos again. And remember. Lest we forget… Supplies Used: Cardstock- Bazzill Basics Paper and Core’dinations ColorCore cardstock; Patterned Paper, Stickers- Graphic 45; Dies- Spellbinders; Phoomph under photos and…
One of my favourite things is truly a scrapbook layout about anything CANADIAN! I sincerely have a soft spot for this beautiful country I call home. Over the next few weeks I will be highlighting some layouts our design team created about their hometowns! I LOVE THEM ALL (Yep the layouts and the wonderful girls on my team)! Meet Kim Gowdy Kim has been apart of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine almost since the beginning! Hello Canadian Scrapbookers!!!!!! It is my extreme pleasure to join you on this lovely Tuesday to share a little inspiration with you. If you know me at all from the magazine, you know me more as a writer than as a scrapbook designer, and true to my role with the magazine, I have some words to share that I hope will inspire you every bit as much as the scrapbook page that I will share with you! Here’s the thing. I have had a self-imposed creatively dry spring and summer and have not touched my scrapbook supplies since about January. I am pleased to say some wonderful things have happened in that time. My family decided to build a new home and I pulled back from my work with the magazine to focus my energy there. I am a VERY messy scrapbooker and once we had our house listed I…
I am just loving some of the new Spellbinders Shapeability dies that were released this winter. The die set “Shoot”, a set of five arrow dies, actually inspired this layout. Because arrows made me think about directions, I googled ‘direction quotes’ and found a perfect quote for a scrapbook page. There were a lot of great quotes to choose from but I’m thinking that arrows are the perfect touch for many projects. A very versatile die set. Spellbinders also manufactures my favourite alphabet die sets – the font one upper and lower case sets are the perfect size and style for many projects. Just love them. When you make your own letter stickers, you never run out of ‘a’s. Adhering small or delicate die cuts can be tricky, but a Xyron Create-a-Sticker makes the process incredibly easy. I turned all of my Spellbinder die cuts into stickers so that they…
Hi everyone! Jodi Wilton here today to share with you a quick card made with FabScraps & Spellbinders! I put these two together because I thought FabScraps, would be a perfect match for the Spellbinders Shapeabilities- Asian Motifs: I started off by cutting a black cardstock base and adding some FabScraps paper, just inside the base. I sewed around the FabScraps paper for some extra detail. I then used the largest die from the Spellbinders Asian Motif with some FabScraps paper, and layered a square to fit just inside it. (I also sewed around this square for extra detail). Finally the Romantic Travel Die Cut book is awesome! I used a luggage tag and added a bit of paper in it and sewed around the luggage tag. I also got out a FabScraps butterfly Chipboard to add to the card. The next step was to adhere the layers…
I treat myself every month to a monthly kit from Scrap Shotz, an online store based in Calgary, Alberta. The kits are great value and are just loaded with all sorts of scrapbook goodies – patterned paper, cardstock, embellishments – lots of fun stuff that I might not necessarily purchase myself, but always goes together beautifully and is really fun to try. It totally makes my day when the Scrapshotz box arrives in my super mail. The kits are perfect for taking to a crop – they include everything you need except for adhesive! A kit from last fall featured Jillibean Soup’s Cold Avocado Soup line – patterned paper, sticker and die cut sheets, flash cards – along with plenty of other great supplies such as bling, Stickles and WeR Memory Keepers chevron washi tape. The colours , rich blue, yellow and teal, in the Avocado Soup line are just…
