Hello Creative Scrapbookers! Kim here with a quick share of a recent layout inspired by the June 2022 Sketchy Challenge designed by Kerry Engel. This was a super quick layout to pull together, which was awesome when life is busy. Allowed me some creative head space as well as a sense of accomplishment when I add it to my album! I used a combination of Simply Stated Design papers and die cut embellishments and a few bits and pieces from my Ali Edwards stash. I just LOVE how easy it was to make these little embellishment clusters, there are so many lovely pieces to play with! My permanent tape runner from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L was my adhesive of choice to keep all my parts together! I look forward to working with our second June Sketchy Challenge, stay tuned! Hopefully you are enjoying the beautiful issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine, if…
Hi friends! Noreen from OrganizedandCreativeMom.com , grateful to be here to share my take on this month’s Creative Scrapbooker Magazine’s Sketchy Challenge! I’ve been thinking about Gratitude a lot this month – it was this month’s theme in the year long course that I teach and of course American Thanksgiving is happening next week. And I just returned from an amazing trip to New Orleans that I was so thankful to have experienced! So, it was natural to want to create a Gratitude themed layout using the new “I am Grateful Project Recipe Kit” released by Creative Memories this month. The kit includes eight beautiful double-sided patterned papers, two sticker sheets and an exclusive Recipe Template, as well as instructions to cut and create two double-page spreads! When I opened the kit, I found that one of the papers featured a twelve-square grid – much like the one that Kerry…
Hello Creative Scrapbookers! Kim here with a quick layout share inspired by the September Sketchy Challenge! When I use a sketch, my first goal is to make it my own! I rarely follow it exactly. When you see my layout, you may think it looks nothing like the sketch, but let me show you how I was inspired! I also challenged myself to use LOTS of product on this layout. I usually don’t use a lot of stickers, labels and die cuts on my layouts, but it’s good to step out of your comfort zone to work your creative brain! Let me show you my process… Thanks for stopping by the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog to check out my layout. I hope it makes you look at sketches a bit differently I see sketches as a stepping stone to creative fun! Have a wonderful day! Do you have the latest…

Happy Tuesday! It’s me, Kim [instagram], back on the blog today with a scrapbooking layout inspired by Stampers Anonymous Pressed Foliage stamp set and our September Sketchy Challenge. Autumn is hands down my favourite time of the year. I love the colours, the crisp air and the cozy clothes that are all part of the season. However, as I sit here typing up my blog post, my world has been blanketed in frozen, white crystals of snow..NOT my favourite season! *sigh* At least I have documented the loveliness of autumn and can enjoy the memories through my photos. This season will bless my world again in 2020! My layout started as a simple white piece of Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock. This smooth, bright white, 130lb weight card stock is the PERFECT foundation for cards and layouts. Your inks will fall in love with this product! I randomly stamped different leaf…
Hello! Kim here again today! Happy June and official countdown to summer! Did you notice that our June Sketchy Challenge was revealed? I LOVE these monthly sketches, though I rarely do not get to them until a month or two later, but THAT my friends is perfectly OK! The thing is…sketches do not expire! They will patiently wait for YOU, so relax and work with them on YOUR schedule, not someone else’s! Kerry Engel has been designing our monthly sketches; and continues to come up with great ideas! This month’s sketch is a double page layout and we are all excited to see what stories you tell! I am sorry to say…my June sketch inspired layout is a 12×12 layout. I can’t even tell you the last time I did a double page layout [probably since losing horizontal space to scrapbooking product!], so without guilt, I adapted it to what…
Today I’m sharing my layout, inspired by our March Sketchy Challenge. Sketches are always a great place to start your creative process…it’s almost like oil for the cogs of your creative brain.I like to flip and rotate sketches to see all the different ways I can play with it. As you see by my finished layout I opted to rotate counter clockwise. My large block became two photos to fill a similar space and my two small squares became a 4×6 photo with a small inset photo. Let your brain work with the spaces of the sketch but be open to mix it up! You’ll be amazed at how many ways one sketch can unfold differently on several layouts! Here are some of the supplies I pulled out to work with! I chose to play with the Creative Memories Secret Garden collection including their paper and stickers. This collection is…
Whoa! Someone put the reigns on August! Somehow this summer has gotten away from us and September is right around the corner! That means kids are back to school and the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival is too! Seems like we just packed up from last year’s carnival! So today I have a quick card share for you that looks a bit more time consuming than it is! Rule #1 as a card maker – make them think you sweat…think Rice Crispy commercial! My card was inspired by our July Sketchy challenge and layered on top of some CSM superstock! In an ideal world I would have more photos for you of the process, but I am using my “free pass” and will step them out in writing. 1] I used and older Heartfelt Creations background stamp, Large Elegant Word and Clearsnap inks to randomly stamp down the left side and…

Hello! Kim here with a quick share of my take on last month’s Sketchy Challenge! Kerry designed this neat sketch for October, try as I did…I wasn’t feeling the ‘angle’ for the photos I wanted to work with. SWITCH IT UP Instead, I worked with elements of the sketch! I moved, shuffled, altered my papers and pictures until I was happy…sometimes it’s a LONG process! I must say I was quite happy with the finished results. PRODUCT LOVE! Simple Stories’ ‘Vintage Blessings’ collection was such an awesome choice for the photos I was working with. The soft, muted colors of the papers, embellishments and quotes were perfect for the old family photos I was scrapbooking! Die –hard story tellers, need not fear! After I took the photo of my layout, I did go back and use my Stabilo pens to document the names of those in the photos! I needed…
