Creative Scrapbooker's VIP Club

Hi friends! Noreen from OrganizedandCreativeMom.com , grateful to be here to share my take on this month’s Creative Scrapbooker Magazine’s Sketchy Challenge!
I’ve been thinking about Gratitude a lot this month – it was this month’s theme in the year long course that I teach and of course American Thanksgiving is happening next week. And I just returned from an amazing trip to New Orleans that I was so thankful to have experienced! So, it was natural to want to create a Gratitude themed layout using the new “I am Grateful Project Recipe Kit” released by Creative Memories this month. The kit includes eight beautiful double-sided patterned papers, two sticker sheets and an exclusive Recipe Template, as well as instructions to cut and create two double-page spreads! When I opened the kit, I found that one of the papers featured a twelve-square grid – much like the one that Kerry Engel features in the sketch she designed for this month’s Sketchy Challenge. Call it fate, kismet, or coincidence, but it was the perfect sketch and the perfect collection to share lots of photos of the things I was so grateful for during my trip!

First, I trimmed out the navy “Gratitude” square from the cut-apart sheet and used the inside of the largest of the three Circle Patterns with the Blue Blade from the Custom Cutting System to cut out the circle to use as my title. I measured the squares on the grid paper and found them to be 2.5”, so I cut several 2.5” squares from the various patterned papers in the kit with the 12” Trimmer, then placed them in random spots on the grid paper. I also adhered the Gratitude title in a similar location to what Kerry had indicated on the sketch. I printed out several photos in a smaller 3” x 4”/4” x 3” size and then used the Personal Trimmer to cut them down even further into 2.5” or 2.25” squares. To finish the layout I adhered the photos to the grid with Tape Runner Adhesive, wrote my journaling on one of the cut-apart journal boxes with the Black Dual-Tip Pen and embellished simply with some of the stickers from the kit. I also cut one of the blue geometric border stickers into smaller sections to add to various squares for more interest. Some of the embellishments and smaller photos were adhered with Foam Squares to create some dimension. I love it! Grids are the perfect way to showcase so many photos and memories of my amazing trip! Thanks for the sketch and inspiration Kerry!
