By Christy Riopel I took this shot at a very unusual event last summer. It was a head shaving party for my 16 year old daughterโs best friend. Victoria was diagnosed with cancer and though her prognosis was favourable she would have to undergo treatments and that would mean she could lose her hair. Now as an adult it is easy to say, โBetter her hair then her lifeโ, but to a teenage girl it must have been horrifying. SUPPLIES: Stampinโ Up! patterned paper, ink, stamps, pen and adhesives. Not her though, she took charge of the situation and threw a party, and shaved her head. Her courage was amazing and inspiring and this photo was so special to me. It required just the right paper that showed the strength of her heart and the beauty of her face. Using Stampinโ Up! paper and stamps I was able to…
Thinking of You Card by Jayme Loge First the steps: Start by stamping a background onto some cardstock, using waterproof ink. I used Clearsnap’s Archival Dye inks for this step. I stamped two images in the background (the small dots are a Hero Arts for Doodlebug Designs stamp, and the script is by Stampin’ Up!). Next, get ready for some inky fun! I took a used dryer sheet and cut it into 2″ squares, and spritzed them with three colours of Clearsnap ย Smooch Spritz. Once they were dry, I mod podged them over top of the background I stamped earlier. Once it was dry, I tore off edges and tied some ribbon around it before attaching it to an embossed background. I punched the butterfly out of a double sided adhesive sheet and applied some Clearsnap glitter to it, then attached it to the ribbon. Last step was stamping…
Have you seen these beautiful intricate dies from Spellbinders?ย ย ย They are just gorgeous, and with a few little tricks, easy to use. I absolutely love this little die called ‘Cattails’.ย Although I have to say, I’m a prairie girl, and while I’m sure the die could look like cattails, to me, it looks like wheat.ย So that’s what I used it for.ย Stalks of ripe wheat, blowing in the breeze. The first time I tried using this die, I discovered it was not quite as simple as all of the other Spellbinders dies I have used over the years.ย Because it is so intricate and highly detailed, I had a few issues with it cutting all the way through, and then had trouble actuallyย getting the paper out of the die.ย ย I had a quick look on the internet for some suggestions on how to make it easier.ย ย I found…

Hello Canadian Scrapbookers! Kelly here, and I’m really excited to share with you today here on the Canadian Scrapbooker blog.ย One of my favourite lines I enjoy working with is Graphic 45ย They launched their designs in the paper crafting world 4 years ago, and since day one, I have been eager to get my crafty hands on their products.ย Their beautiful patterned papers make a vintage statement, and every new release inspires creativity. Some of the collections I’ve loved in the past six months are “A Ladies Diary,” “Happy Haunting,” “Bird Song,” “Nutcracker Sweet” and the newest calendar line called “Place in Time.” The new calendar line “Place in Time” has so many paper crafting possibilites.ย I decided to design a 12 x 12 calendar album as a birthday present for my mother, using photos of herself from her own scrapbooks. ย In fact, I’m now teaching this album as…
