Hello everyone, Karen Ellis here! I am so excited to be able to attend ScrapFest in Richmond Hill, Ontario on behalf of the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine. Jodi Wilton, my daughter Emily and I will be in the booth promoting the magazine, selling subscriptions and sharing the love of this uniquely Canadian paper crafting magazine! One of my favourite parts of attending shows (in addition to getting to meet all of you) is being able to teach some fun techniques IN PERSON much like we do in each issue of the magazine. We call the showfloor classes Technique Tasters and at ScrapFest on September 27 I will be offering TWO FREE Tasters to attendees on a first come, first serve basis. I hope you all take advantage of this and join us at the show! One of the techniques I will be showcasing is Packing Tape Transfers using the Gelli Plates…
Hi everyone Jodi Wilton here today to share with you a fun, summery layout using one of my favourite summer lines this year by Simple Stories! I love all the possibilities with this collection from using them for scrapbook pages, pocket pages, mini’s and cards! Here is the layout I created full of summer fun: I love to layer on my layouts and by using the chipboard stickers, bits & pieces, and enamel dots; a layout can come together super fast and easy! This layout was create in under an hour! I used Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Foam Squares to give the embellishments some extra dimension too! One of my favourite products from this collection is the Insta-Squares! They are fun small embellishments that can be used for all different projects. For my layout, I added them as a fun embellishment! Thanks for letting me share a little bit of my…
Hi everyone! Jodi Wilton here today to share with you a quick card made with FabScraps & Spellbinders! I put these two together because I thought FabScraps, would be a perfect match for the Spellbinders Shapeabilities- Asian Motifs: I started off by cutting a black cardstock base and adding some FabScraps paper, just inside the base. I sewed around the FabScraps paper for some extra detail. I then used the largest die from the Spellbinders Asian Motif with some FabScraps paper, and layered a square to fit just inside it. (I also sewed around this square for extra detail). Finally the Romantic Travel Die Cut book is awesome! I used a luggage tag and added a bit of paper in it and sewed around the luggage tag. I also got out a FabScraps butterfly Chipboard to add to the card. The next step was to adhere the layers…
Hi everyone! Jodi, here today to share with you a Simple Stories double pager that I completed for my project life this year! I love this style of scrapbooking that really captivates the every day moments, and Simple Stories makes it so easy to do this! For my WEEK 6 spread, I used the collection: HOMESPUN. This is the first time I have used Simple Stories for this type of project, and I was amazed at how fast it all came together! Here is the left side: I primarily used their 4 X6 cards and 3 X 4 cards and added some stickers and chipboard for extra detail: I even added some stickers on photos to tell the story more: Here is the right side of the layout: So have you ventured into this type of scrapbooking? I love it! Thanks for letting me share today! Supplies: Patterned Paper,…
Hi everyone! Jodi Wilton here today to show a quick celebration card using Core’dintations ColorCore Cardstock and Sizzix Dies. I love having birthday cards at hand, and by combining the fun bright colours of Spotted by Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock and the fun ice cream die by Sizzix- a fun and fast card can be created! Here is the card that I came up with: The card base was also Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock and then added two layers of patterned paper (Carta Bella). I sewed around each piece of patterned paper for extra detail. Finally I cut out the ice cream pieces and the banner. I added some distress ink in a similar colour to each of the pieces to really bring out the spots on the cardstock. Finally I used Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam squares to give the ice cream some dimension. Here is another look: Supplies: Core’dinations ColorCore…

Hi Everyone! Jodi Willton here today, to share with a little project using DCWV WHITEBOARD paper (yes, I said WHITEBOARD!). I don’t know about you, but my toddler LOVES to use paper, and more paper and more paper. As soon as I saw that DCWV has whiteboard paper, I knew I had to create something that would be reusable for her! So I started by spray painting a clipboard white. (Be sure to use a couple of coats). Next I measured my clipboard, then cut the whiteboard paper to just fit on top of the clipboard. I used my Beacon Adhesives 3 in 1 glue to ensure the paper is adhered really well! Next I used the Vintage Basics Stack and added 1 inch paper borders to the edges of the clipboard. I added a cute little punched out heart and circle to accent the clip at the top.…
Hi everyone! Jodi Wilton here today to share with you a Holiday Layout I made using one of my favourite Dies from Spellbinders & The fun holiday Collection by Simple Stories: December Documented: I used this Spellbinders die set all the time to make banners in different styles; but today I wanted to share a layout using this die in a whole new way! Triangles are a hot new trend on layouts, so I decided to make a pattern with the medium sized pennant (it would work for any size if you wish!). I used the Basics Kit from the Simple Stories collection to create a pattern that ran the length of my page: Next I added some strips of paper, followed by some May Arts ribbon between the strips of paper and photos. I also used some May Arts ribbon as string for my chipboard ornaments. To…
Welcome to Part 5 of a 10-part series called Where We Scrap, where our bloggers share their scrap space with you. This week, Jodi Wilton is sharing her space. Hi everyone! Today I am going to give you a glimpse of my small scrapbook room (or closet like room!) I am fortunate enough to have a space to myself, which wasn’t always the case! As my love for the hobby grew, so did my scrapbook supplies, and what was once an office, slowly turned into a complete scrappy space for me. The room is very small (7 X 8 feet at the most!) but I have tried to make the most of the space I have. I have literally occupied as much wall space that I can. If I knew that this was going to be a scrapbook space when I moved in, I think I would have painted it a…
