They sit on the counter and everyday I come in and move them around until something jumps out for me. With this set of pictures my first impulse was my go-to “grid layout”. This layout sat on my counter for a few days, it felt sort of boring, it didn’t get my mojo going. That goofy selfie photo made me laugh and I felt like it should be the dominant photo on the page. Feeling Rusty by Kerry Engel This page looks like it should weigh about 3 pounds. But it doesn’t. Those gears – they are totally fake. What would take nature about 5 years to accomplish I created in roughly 20 minutes, with a little help from Pentart Rust Effects distributed by Bo Bunny The gears were cut using a Tim Holtz die cut from Sizzix. I covered them in Ranger black gesso and pressed the Rust Effect powder distributed by Bo Bunny into the wet gesso. Then I added the Rust Effect Reagent from Pentart distributed by Bo Bunny on top and brushed it around with an old paintbrush. Once dry I covered in the Pentart Varnish. I thought that would seal in the rust shavings. The gears remain pliable and very light weight. They look very realistic and give my page some lovely texture. I think I’ll do this on…
