Hi Everyone! It’s Kelly Klapstein here today, and I’m sharing a project I designed using Tombow products and the Brother ScanNCut machine.
I love making inspirational signs and home décor pieces and thought I would brighten up my studio space with a rainbow. Of course, I knew I would use Tombow Dual Brush pens to create the rainbow because, well, Tombow pens come in every colour imaginable and more!
I started by drawing the clouds on Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock with my Tombow drafting Mono pencil. And whenever I am using a pencil, I have one of Tombow’s erasers on hand. I just love this MONO Knock eraser that dispenses like a pen, so you have a fine tip eraser for lines.
Then I traced over my pencil lines with the bullet nib end of the black Tombow Dual Brush pen.
Now I was ready to cut out my clouds…and not with scissors! With my Brother ScanNCut. I just love the feature of “Direct Cut” on this machine so I don’t have to worry about anymore fussy cutting. Plus, you can adjust the outline cut so that you cut directly on the lines or create varying margins around them.
I placed the clouds paper onto my mat and scanned and cut!
Then on another piece of Super Stock I used 5 colours of the Tombow Dual Brush pens to draw a rainbow. Using the side of the pen, I drew curved lines of colours. TIP: Draw from end to end of the line without starting over or stopping for a smoother, solid colour.
Using the Tombow Fudenosuke soft tip brush pen, I wrote the words “Live in Colour.”
Then I adhered my clouds to either end of the the rainbow with Tombow Permanent + adhesive tape runner.
I stuck the white piece of paper onto black cardstock to make the colours really pop, and then I decided to draw black lines between each colour on the rainbow.
Now my studio seems a little bit brighter! I hope you are able to try out this simple rainbow technique with some Tombow pens and brighten your day too!
