Hello, Connie Nichol here with a romantic layout just in time for Valentine’s Day. I was cleaning up my craft room when I came across this photograph of my parents from about 28 years ago – they look so young and so happy.
This layout came together very quickly. I had a few pieces of patterned paper on my desk from a South African company called Penelope Dee. I saw their products for the first time at Creativation last month in Phoenix and the designs are simply gorgeous. This patterned paper was SO perfect for this photo and then I saw a scrapbook sketch designed by Laura Whitaker on Facebook. Isn’t this a great sketch? It certainly speeds up the scrapbooking process when somebody has done most of the design work for you!
For the page title and for extra embellishments, I used two different sets of the Way with Words dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. My parents got married in 1960, so this year they will have been married 58 years. ‘Forever’ seemed like the perfect page title. Fifty eight years is practically forever, at least to me. They’ve been together for way more years than they were apart.
I used the heart dies from Calligraphic Elements 3 to add some more texture and embellishments to the page. Since I cut the hearts out of cardstock that was a similar colour to the background paper, it gives a soft and subtle effect. This set of calligraphic elements is so handy for adding those extra touches to a project. A flourish here, a few hearts there…… If you want to add a little more pop to your die cuts, sponge them with a little distress ink from Ranger. There is a virtual rainbow of ink colours, and because the distress ink is water reactive, you can spritz a little water on your inked surface to move the ink around and get more of a watercolor look.
Be sure to celebrate your ‘forever’ love this Valentine’s Day and capture the moment in a photograph.
Happy scrapbooking

Supplies Used: Penelope Dee patterned paper, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Ranger Ink, Elizabeth Craft Designs metal dies, Core’dinations cardstock

What a gorgeous layout. Loving the roses in the backyard.
Love the muted colour palette on this layout. The pinks match your mother’s dress beautifully. Thanks for the inspiration.
Beautiful layout, love the Elizabeth Craft dies.
First, congratulations to your parents for 58 years.
Your LO of them together is so sweet and romantic. The lacy doilies with the hearts and lace are perfect. I love how you tucked a little tag in back. It makes a nice place to jot down any personal notes or messages. A great sketch does help pull it together fast and easy.
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely work! 🙂
Very pretty page and a very pretty outfit too. xx
Aww, nice page Connie. It probably came together quickly because you had nice supplies and you love the subjects in your photo.
