Happy Tuesday! Kim here on the Creative Scrapbooker blog again, sharing a couple of projects I worked on this past weekend! I’m sure, if you are a bit like me, that every now and then you find some paper that makes you super happy! Well, when I came across Echo Park Paper Co. Little Lumberjack Collection, it made me squeal just a bit! I LOVE all the plaids, patterns and whimsical designs. They will honestly keep lumberjacks of all ages happy! I first created a simple layout. I layered a square of Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock to the plaid background. I don’t often work with exact measurements, instead I often just use intuition based all parts! I then cut 4 rectangles from papers in the collection, approximately 3.5 x 5. This became the main component to build upon, from this point it’s all fun and embellishment!
I had fun layering the stickers, chipboard accents and enamel dots from the collection. You’ll notice the subject of my photo, the embellishments and journaling run vertically down a visual line. This loosely follows the composition ‘rule of thirds’ which puts important aspects of my layout along an imaginary line that makes my [your] brain happy!
I have embossed this big, handsome moose using some Emerald Creek Craft Supplies / Aroma Just Java embossing powder. The chipboard die is from Southern Ridge Trading Co. He stands perfectly to the left of my journaling, making me smile!
My second project was made using the negative space from my chipboard die. I embossed the remaining chipboard with Emerald Creek Craft Supplies / Quietfire Design’s Gothic Black Modern Gilding Powder. I adhered it to a plaid background that was cut at a diagonal for extra interest. The sentiment and enamel dots are from the collection. I LOVE how striking the black embossed chipboard is against the plaid! Like I said earlier…this collection makes me squeal in happiness!
