Happy Summer, crafty friends! Heather Fischer here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog. Thank you for stopping by to get a closer look at these cards I created using the Pink & Main Special Day kit. This kit is part of their monthly subscriptions, and you won’t want to miss it!
This kit is FULL of bright and cheerful elements—the Colourful Ink Spots 6×6 paper pad is amazing!! Loving all the fun colours and patterns in it, and it really got my creative juices flowing! I based the card designs on these patterned papers and incorporated many of the other items in the kit.
Card 1 – Happy Birthday to You
Circles…who doesn’t love circles?! I used my Prism Studio Stitched Circle Die Set to cut out five different sized circles of the Colourful Ink Spots papers. I love circles too, and this card was quick to make! Instead of stamping the background white card stock, I wanted a little texture without taking away from the circles, so I created subtle score lines on the white panel by putting it in my score tool and scoring vertically at varying widths. Subtle but just the right amount of “something” for the background! Then I layered the patterned paper circles to my liking, & attached the smallest one with some Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D Foam Squares. The sentiment was stamped with Black Versafine ink then clear embossed with Ranger Clear Superfine embossing powder. I finished it off with some sticky gems from the kit and attached the finished panel to a black card base.
Card 2 – Happy Birthday to You – Glitter!
For this card, I used the teal coloured card stock paper from the kit. I added a white mat allowing for a thin border. Next, I used my Prism Studio Stitched Rectangle Die Set. I Cut a piece of the Colourful Ink Spot papers with a shiny pink foil mat. I used the Pink & Main “Special Day” stamp & coordinating die for this card and stamped the image on vellum with Ranger Distress Embossing Ink and heat embossed it with Ranger White embossing powder. For the sentiment, I stamped it onto white card stock and used a pretty pink glitter embossing powder. I attached the stamped image to the card front then adhered the die-cut sentiment using more of the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L 3D foam squares.
Card 3 – Celebrate (Candles)
This card was super fun to create! I used the set of candles stamp from the stamp set and stamped it a few times in a line across a white panel I cut to size. I used Black Versafine ink and then added Ranger Clear Superfine embossing powder. I used a variety of my Zebra Midliner Brush pens to colour in the candles to coordinate with the patterned paper. Heat embossing the image helps to create a barrier for the colouring to prevent any colour bleeding. I had trimmed the panel of stamped candles to fit on a piece of the patterned paper and matted with more of the pink foil paper included in the kit. To create some texture to the card background, I used an embossing folder from my stash. I adhered the celebrate sentiment along the bottom with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Foam Tape.
Card 4 – Celebrate *Shaker Card
I love me a shaker card!! I was thrilled to see a package of A2 small shaker covers in the kit along with a package of gold sequin mix. I used the cake image from the stamp set, stamped and heat embossed then coloured using my Zebra Midliner Brush pens. I adhered it flat to a piece of the patterned paper cut to fit inside the shaker pouch. Once the stamped image was secured, I poured in a good amount of the gold sequins. Again, I used my Prism Studio Stitched Rectangle Die Set to cut a piece of white card stock to mount the shaker pouch onto then attached to a piece of the purple cardstock from the kit. The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed using Ranger Gold Superfine embossing powder and then adhered to the front of the shaker pouch.
Card 5 – Make a Wish *Shaker Card
Another shaker card… I truly love shaker cards!! I chose a piece of the patterned paper, cut to fit inside the shaker pouch, then added in some of the gold sequin mix. Once the shaker was done, I attached it to the front of a white card base. I created the frame for it using the Prism Studio Stitched Rectangle Die set by using two sizes to cut the base of the frame, then a die two sizes smaller to create the opening for the frame. It didn’t feel quite finished, so I die-cut a slim gold frame to finish it off! The balloon cluster and the sentiment were stamped onto vellum using Ranger Distress Embossing Ink & Ranger Gold Superfine embossing powder then adhered flat to the front of the shaker pouch.
Card 6 – Make a Wish (Cake) *Shaker Card
For this last card, I just couldn’t stop making shaker cards!! I stamped the cake image onto the patterned paper with Black Versafine ink and heat embossed with the Ranger Clear Superfine embossing powder then coloured it in with the Zebra brush pens. Before sealing the top of the shaker, I added the gold sequin mix with a bit of pink sequins from my stash then attached it to the card front. I stamped the sentiment as above and then adhered it to the front of the shaker pouch.
