Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a couple of cards featuring the One Hot Chick stamp set from Picket Fence Studios together with beautiful foiled backgrounds created with Therm O Web Deco Foil. Picket Fence Studios has some seriously cute stamp sets.Β  Be sure to go check them out.Β  One of the cutest is the One Hot Chick stamp set, which also happens to have a matching die set, making it easy to create a whole flock of chickens.Β  I stamped a whole bunch of birds and coloured them with Kelly Creates pens. The card backgrounds were created with Therm O Web Deco Foil Products.Β  Β A touch of foil makes any card look extra special!Β  The top ‘cluck it’ card uses a Foil-Mates card which has been pre-printed with foilable elements.Β  The ‘hot chick’ card uses Deco Foil Transfer Gel, a Stampers Anonymous stencil, and an old dictionary page.Β  I…

Hi, Connie Nichol here today with a quick card using Viva Decor products, plain white cardstock, and a recycled dictionary page.Β  I had a pile of old dictionaries in my craft room to create projects for the next issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. I took a piece of white cardstock, die-cut a heart on the top 1/3 and then added dimension using an embossing folder. I then added colour to the embossed background with Viva Decor 3D stamp paint.Β  This is wonderful stuff.Β  You can stamp with it or use it as a paint to add rich colour and shimmer to your projects. After the purple, I dabbed on a little bit of silver stamp paint. I used Viva Decor Inka Gold, another beautiful shimmery product, to colour my die cut word. Then, I just tucked in a dictionary page with the word ‘anniversary’ under the heart-shaped opening, adhered the…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a quick scrapbook layout I put together using Glue Dots adhesives and Wild Whisper patterned paper.Β  My oldest son absolutely loved to read when he was growing up, and so the book-themed ‘Add a Chapter’ patterned paper line was perfect.Β  Wild Whisper is a Canadian company based in Calgary. I just cut strips of the patterned paper and stuck them all together with my Glue Dots adhesives – I used the permanent glue tape to adhere paper to paper, and permanent ultra-thin dots to attach the wood veneer gear shapes.Β  The wood shapes came from the dollar store, and I just painted them with Ranger black gesso to make inexpensive embellishments. I also tucked in an old dictionary page under the patterned paper.Β  If you have old dictionary’s laying around, be sure to check out the upcoming winter issue of Creative Scrapbooker magazine for…

Hi, Connie Nichol here this morning with a couple of projects that recycle sewing patterns.Β  If you’ve seen the Summer Issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine, you’ll know I wrote a whole article on this topic.Β  Be sure to grab the magazine if you want a whole bunch of other ideas.Β  Β Among other things, the patterned tissue paper from old sewing patterns makes a great background for cards and scrapbook layouts. Here’s one of the cards I made.Β  Quick and simple and I think a perfect masculine birthday card.Β  Adhere a layer of a recycled sewing pattern to a piece of white cardstock using gel medium.Β  A gel medium is simply a binder without pigment that comes in various thicknesses, sheens, and transparencies.Β  I like the Dina Wakely matte gel medium from Ranger.Β  Β Just use a sponge brush or paint brush to apply gel medium to the base layer of cardstock…

Hello, Connie here today with a quick scrapbook layout featuring foil products from Therm O Web and some other golden touches. Sometimes you just have one small photo of an event that you want to remember, so place it in the middle of the page and accent withΒ  a big title and metallic embellishments. For the background triangles on the page, I used Therm O Web Brutus Munroe Designer Toner Sheets and gold Deco Foil.Β  Just place a foil sheet on top of the toner sheet and run it through a laminator.Β  Β Under heat, the foil is transferred to the toner ink, so all the blackΒ  areas on the toner sheet become golden.Β  The package of toner sheets contains two clear sheets and two white sheets .Β  They are both turn out beautiful and shiny but the different backgrounds give a much different look. For the page title, I used…

Hello, Connie Nichol here this morning with a layout featuring a number of supplies from my local dollar store.Β  This was actually an extra project leftover from my recent article in the spring 2019 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine.Β  As part of the process for creating each of my articles, I spread out all relevant supplies and imagine the possibilities.Β  Β My brain churns with ideas and I usually end up creating way more projects than there is space to publish.Β  This is a very messy stage and the floor in both my craft room and the adjacent living room are usually covered with little piles of supplies.Β  Ha!Β  Just imagine a landscape of all sorts of dollar store craft items – pipe cleaners, pompoms, stickers, adhesives, gems and so on.Β  One of the items that I really wanted to create something with was a package of mirror stickers from Forever…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a quick and easy scrapbook layout about my recent foray into yoga.Β  Yoga is not something I’d ever done before, but I’m always open to trying new things.Β  I wasn’t sure I’d like it but I did.Β  Β Especially the Aromatherapy Deep Stretch and Relaxation class!Β  In order to scrapbook this I snapped a picture of my new yoga mat and a screenshot of yoga appointments during my trial week.Β  Β The screenshot was originally a very vibrant grass green so I adjusted the hue to purple in Photoshop Elements so that it would match my yoga mat and background paper.Β  Super easy to do and made the whole scrapbooking process much easier and gentle on the eyes. I started with a beautiful piece of paper from the FabScraps Serenity line.Β  The double-sided patterned papers from this line have soft muted colours and patterns featuring botanicals,…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a scrapbook layout featuring stamps, dies and patterned paper from the Heartfelt Creations Backyard Blossoms collection.Β  I adore the coneflowers and other blooms that are its focus.Β  In addition to patterned paper, there are three stamp sets with matching dies that are part of the collection.Β  I’ve used the set called ‘Blossoming Coneflower’.Β  I stamped the images with Ranger archival black ink and coloured them with Chameleon pens.Β  Β  These pens were absolutely perfect for this project – I could achieve gradation of colour in the petals and leaves with a single pen.Β Β Supplies Used:Β  Heartfelt Creations patterned paper, stamps and dies, MultiCraft flakes, glue, letter stickers and wooden butterfly, Chameleon Color Tone pens, Ranger ink, Glue Dots Adhesives, corrugated cardboard, doily. I used the Heartfelt Creations Backyard Blossoms collection and Blossoming Coneflower stamp with coordinating die. I stamped the Heartfelt Creations stamp using Ranger…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a scrapbook layout featuring a number of products manufactured by MultiCraft and adhered together with various adhesives from Glue Dots.Β  MultiCraft is based in Ottawa and strives to provide great quality craft items at reasonable prices.Β  Some of the brand names under the MultiCraft umbrella are Forever in Time, Craft Medley and Color Factory.Β Β I find many of their products at my local dollar store so they are an excellent choice for frugal paper crafters. I started with some Forever in TIme Vintage Rose patterned cardstock.Β  I moistened the top and bottom edges with a paintbrush and some water and rolled and ripped them to create a border.Β  Here’s what the flip side of some of those patterned paper looks like.Β  Many of them are glittered and are very pretty. decided that a guitar-themed layout needed a guitar-shaped embellishment so I printed out an electric…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a couple of projects that use recycled maps.Β  Β Maps and atlases are oftenΒ  freeΒ  and are so much fun to add to paper crafting projects.Β  There is a whole article on this in the Winter 2018/2019 issue of Creative Scrapbooker MagazineΒ  – be sure to check out a bunch of other ideas using recycled maps.Β  Β Maps are particularly well suited to travel layouts – the layout below uses a map of Germany I got from the AMA for the page background.Β  I marked our route using embroidery thread and added a postcard and our entrance ticket to the castle.Β  I always save memorabilia when travelling. Supplies:Β  Paper House Productions Germany stickers, Simple Stories wood embellishments, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L photo corners and adhesive. Old maps also make great embellishments!Β  Here’s a card featuring map pinwheels. Supplies:Β  Stampin Up!Β  patterned paper, ink, cardstock, embossing folder…
