Each issue Connie shares a frugal tip or trick using inexpensive items that you probably already have hanging around your house.  Check out this fabulous layout designed by Connie featuring Q-Tip painting! Connie gathered 4-5 Q-tips together with an elastic band, dabbed them in paint and then dabbed them on her background to create this gorgeous design. Hello everyone, Kim here today with a mixed media blog share! In the summer issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine, Connie Nichol, our frugal scrapbooker, has an article all about using vintage sewing patterns. This featured article shows lots of fun ways to incorporate patterns onto cards and layouts. I thought I would share how I used them in a project! I have done up a 2-page mixed media layout in my Prima Travelers Mixed Media Notebook. This fun  little notebook has various types of paper to work on; black & cream mixed media, kraft, cardstock and a heavy vellum. I have adhered some of the tissue paper pattern on the left side of my project and the packaging on the right side using Prima Soft Matte Gel. I choose to paint a thin layer of watered down Mint Impasto over the entire project to tone the red down and ‘push’…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a couple of projects that use recycled maps.   Maps and atlases are often  free  and are so much fun to add to paper crafting projects.  There is a whole article on this in the Winter 2018/2019 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine  – be sure to check out a bunch of other ideas using recycled maps.   Maps are particularly well suited to travel layouts – the layout below uses a map of Germany I got from the AMA for the page background.  I marked our route using embroidery thread and added a postcard and our entrance ticket to the castle.  I always save memorabilia when travelling. Supplies:  Paper House Productions Germany stickers, Simple Stories wood embellishments, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L photo corners and adhesive. Old maps also make great embellishments!  Here’s a card featuring map pinwheels. Supplies:  Stampin Up!  patterned paper, ink, cardstock, embossing folder…
