Colour Blocking with Ink Pads – with Cathy Caines Summer has finally arrived on the East Coast of Canada!! Whenever the sun is shining I need to take full advantage so I like quick and simple layouts during the summer months. Typically when I start a scrapbook page, I haul out a 12×12 piece of white cardstock and go from there. Using that as a canvas, I let my imagination take course so that the page and the pictures morph into a piece of art. After playing with mega blocks with my little girl, I thought about how to incorporate it into my scrapbook pages. Using four Stampin’ Up! ink pads, I turned them face down to create a cool background. Arrange them on the paper before opening your ink pads to get your page organized. A quick tip is to first apply a thin layer of gesso on…
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today I am sharing a layout I created using a military themed lined of products from FabScraps Materials: FabScraps patterned paper, stickers and chipboard, Clearsnap ink, Beacon 3in1 Adhesive, Dymo tape, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam squares. I wanted my layout to hint towards the military nature of the Museum we visited so I cut pennant flags from FabScraps paper and arranged them like a soldiers medals. I curled the paper with my fingers to add dimension to the page. I used Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam squares to attach the flags so they will stand up from the page. Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone! To see more of Christy’s work visit her blog – Creating a Life I love to Share

Hello everyone Christy Riopel here on the blog today! I am all about creating layers these days. Stamps are a great way to add layers without adding bulk to your page. This Magenta Crafty Secrets Swirl is one of the most used stamps I own. It so versatile that I have yet to run out of uses for it. I love how it peaks out from under my stickers. Supplies: Magenta stamps, Fancy Pants Designs patterned paper and stickers, May Arts Ribbon, gesso, Clearsnap ColorBox Chalk Ink, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, Photo by Allison Orthner Have a wonderful week everyone! One of the most colourful booths at CHA was Bazzill Basics Paper, with their incredible rainbow of card stock on display! The theme of the booth was 1950’s, with a red convertible car right on the tradeshow floor and a real jukebox standing nearby. FUN! There were 3 newly released patterned paper collections on display as well. “Vintage Lace” is a pretty pink and green floral palette reminiscent of a country garden. “Worldwide” is perfect for scrapping travel and trips, while “The Adventures Of” is a fun bright collection of retro primary colours with boyish charm. There were wonderful layouts on display. Bazzill Basics Paper is more than just card stock! Click HERE to visit their website and find their full range of products. Last summer, I first attended CHA in Las Vegas and was astonished by the Sizzix booth….the displays, the projects…so much eye candy! This winter tradeshow was the same experience with Sizzix showcasing an incredible and vast assortment of products and crafts. The really cool thing about the Sizzix displays are how artfully the products (dies) are staged with craft projects and overall decor. The new Tim Holtz Alterations dies are wonderful to behold, with a combination of die cutting and embossing paper crafts… There are also an assortment of new border dies and project samples that feature them… …along with the new Bigz dies. That is only the Tim Holtz line! There are wonderful other collections by their other designers. “Susan’s Garden” is an entire line of dies designed to recreate perfect and realistic 3D flowers. I had a nice…
