Hello everyone – Tracy McLennon here – the newest member of the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine Design Team! I know it’s not often that someone would come across a violin that they could make pretty. But I will admit that is one of the perks of having a band/music teacher husband that has other music teacher friends. It came up in conversation one night about how sometimes you collect broken and unusable instruments, instead of throwing them away. Then, there was mention of this 3/4 size violin, unusable and ready for the garbage. I put a stop to that! I love to decorate for the holidays! My style is very classic, greens, reds and golds. So I knew what direction I would go with this piece. I started with a light sanding all over, so that the paint would cover a little easier. It took about 3 coats of the cream…

In Canada, November 11 is Remembrance Day. It is a statutory holiday in most provinces and territories in order to commemorate members of the armed forces and to remember and honour those who have fought for our country and our freedom. It’s about respecting our past and thanking those that have served. I grow many poppies in my garden and they always make me think of the iconic war poem ‘In Flanders Field’ by John McRae. To add some subtle texture and interest to the piece of Bo Bunny Heritage patterned paper, I used a Bo Bunny stickable stencil and smeared a little molding paste through it with my finger. I adore the way these stencils stick, even after repeated washings, so the molding paste ends up where it is supposed to. All the time. It can’t sneak under the stencil and make a mess. Then, I sprayed a…
Hi Everyone! It’s Kelly here to share my new Double the Fun sketch and layout….for our Spring 2016 issue! A double sketch sure comes in handy for big events involving lots of photos, like my daughter’s Graduation last May. I think I will be scrapping those pics a lot especially because a really talented and creative photographer took them. Thank you Madeline Ludlage Photography! I used mostly Momenta papers and products for the design. This gorgeous paper pack by Momenta is called “Perched”. This cardstock patterned paper has beautiful collage images on it. I used a pretty floral Momenta Stencil with a Faber-Castell Texture Gems Gel Liner on the right page. I also used this gold Gel Liner to add dimensional flourishes to each side of my title, which are Momenta alphabet stickers. This gorgeous layered Momenta bird die is so pretty with the embossing. I layered May Arts gold pearl ribbon…

Today we have Kerry Engel as our Guest Blogger, and she is sharing how she is using up her stash by making something new with something old! I have a confession. I find card making stressful. I’m a scrapbooker. I marvel at the beautiful cards that card-makers create. The meticulous stamping, perfect embossing and amazing colouring… I have trouble thinking without a photograph and yet, I still make cards. Mostly to use up my stash because …I have stash-guilt. I got on a card-roll earlier this summer when my daughter came downstairs and declared, “We are out of cards!” Buying cards just feels wrong when I can make them so I tend to go on a card-making-bender each summer. This year, my card-making-bender was made simpler by the addition of the Core’dinations ColorCore Polka Dot Pop card package. I need to confess two things. I love Kraft coloured paper and…
Hi, it’s Connie Nichol here today with a layout inspired by the July sketch in the Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy Challenge. It was a great opportunity to play with some new Sizzix dies. The Bird Crazy Framelits shown below are designed to match the Stampers Anonymous cling mount Bird Crazy stamps and they cut right up to the stamped image. You can layer wings, beaks and eyes if you are so inclined, and have a lot of fun. These little birdies are the cutest things ever! I coloured in the stamped images with Chameleon pens. Love being able to get a variety of shades of colour from one pen. For the background of the page, I used a 6×6 pad of Core’dinations Kraft-Core cardstock and used another new Sizzix die to cut out some really cool designs. So many possiblities with these Sizzix thinlit dies….. I cut the title out of Elmer’s…
