Kim here to sneak in my take on October’s sketch, designed by Sue Sykes! A fun sketch to work with; one that I can see using again! Great way to add multiple photos or use up many of those pocket page style kits! I used LOTS of Stampin’ Up! goodness on this page! Paper is from the Flowerpot Designer Series and I used their new Sizzix Dies: Project Life & Word Bubbles. Other Stampin’ Up! products used were the buttons, stamps, ink & the pink, ruffled ribbon! My titles were cut using purchased SVG files from Wilna Furstenberg’s site and the wooden banner is from Studio Calico. Hi Everyone…or should I say, “Happy Halloween!” It’s Kelly here to share a layout. Do you have you have your costumes ready and spooky décor around the house? I know I have some cobwebs here and there! ha ha ha Here is a Halloween layout I designed using Simple Stories’ fun “Frankie and Friends” collection, along with some awesome Sizzix dies. Here are the three Sizzix dies I used: I die cut them from American Crafts glitter paper… love the sparkle! Beacon Adhesives is great for adhering these pieces: I bent the bat wings for added dimension and just glued their heads down. Pull out your Sizzix Eclips2 There are thousands of different free fonts that are available on the internet and they can be easily installed and cut with the Sizzix Eclips2 using the free Ecal Lite software that comes with the machine. I can see that I will soon need to upgrade the ‘lite’ software so that I can cut svg files, but that will be the topic of future blog posts. Today I am focused on installing, resizing and welding a font to make a title for a scrapbook page. This blog post isn’t meant to be a comprehensive step by step tutorial but will give you an idea of what is involved. I found it easy and wanted to share my first attempt. It has been ten months since our dear Java left us for “puppy fields in the sky” and I still am surprised to come home and not be greeted by her, 14 years of unconditional love forms routines! My process for this page came together easily, I think because the subject is so dear to my heart. I had saved some of the thoughtful cards sent to us when we had to put Java down. I think originally I couldn’t throw them out because it made her passing so final and I was genuinely surprised that people had sent them, after all to some she was “just a dog”. Eeek!!! I have always wanted to join the world of DIY electronic cutters but have been a little intimidated by what I feared was a steep learning curve. Although reasonably computer savvy, I am a busy working mom who lacks any skill at putting machines together and doesn’t have a lot of time for fiddling with details or learning complicated software. Well, I have jumped into the electronic die cutting water with a Sizzix Eclips 2 and I will write a series of blog posts describing my adventures right from getting it out of the box to cutting simple shapes, importing cut files and maybe even create and modify my own designs. Kim here for a quick post featuring a really FUN die set from Sizzix. It’s their triple, square, flip-it cards die! This is such a great way to make quick, EASY cards that look like you have spent lots of time on! Perfect for any occasion, I think the look can be endless! The set comes with lots of pieces to mix up the look and mat the cards. It is brilliantly simple! All you have to do is think up what papers and embellishments to use! I chose to use 6×6 paper pads from Forever In Time. They were easy to mix and match! Here is the first of three cards I’m sharing, a good any occasion card. Happy July 1st everyone! Connie Nichol here with a patriotic red and white Canada Day layout. I was briefly tempted to use non-traditional colours, but just couldn’t do it. LOL I used the July Canadian Scrapbooker sketchy challenge sketch as a starting point. It looks like this: I decided to start with a base of Core’Dinations Spotted cardstock. It looks so lovely and textured, especially when you sand a tiny bit off of the top. The other day I saw that Rhonda Steed had some free Canada day printables up on her blog (hot link www.rhondasteed.com) and I was totally inspired to use a couple of these project life typecards as part of my layout.
