Each and every week, we look back in time and remember the beautiful art of our late friend and colleague Christy Riopel. Christy’s art was and still is timeless. So many of her creations from way back when are still hot and trendy today. Here is a blog post from over 6 years ago that Christy created for Creative Scrapbooker Magazine about recycling and embossing pop cans! AWESOME! Upcycling Pop Cans to Make Embossed “Tin Panels” by Christy Riopel I was inspired by an old tin ceiling panels when I created this page. I love how they go with the vintage feel of the photo. To make the panels I cut the top and bottom off a pop can and down the side. I then took my Spellbinders embossing folder and embossed the metal from the can. I then painted it with gesso and let it dry. I sprayed it…
Have you visited The Stamps of Life by Stephanie Barnard website lately? You truly need to – especially if you are a stamper. This fantastic company features high quality stamps, ink pads and dies for stampers, card makers, scrapbookers, art journalers etc etc. Education One of things that really sparks my creative juices that this company does is their education program. As you click on a project you are interest in, located right in their store, underneath the project a video will often be presented on how they created the card or the products in action. These videos are called Stephanie’s Stamp Pad How-to Video. In this example Stephanie is putting together this super cute birthday card. Here is the video class located right under the project on their website. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YVkDm_aEio After the video there are links to all the products used to create the card. Summer is almost here and that means Sunglasses…. and no one loves them more than my Ashley. I love scrapbooking day to day photos like this. I used: Simple Stories patterned paper, tags, and stickers, Sizzix stamps, dies and embossing folders, Clearsnap Surfacez inks, and Stephanie Barnard Sprays, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. I stamped the Sizzix flags onto a Simple Stories card and used the Sizzix co-ordinating dies to cut them out. I love the versatility of this set. I also used a Sizzix embossing folder on two other cards from the same pack and layered them behind my photo to create texture. I love to get as much as I can out of my supplies, so I cut up the border of the Simple Stories alpha sticker sheet into little square stickers and attached them to the page. Happy Summer –Is-Almost-Here Scrapping! To see more of Christy’s work…
Upcycling Pop Cans to Make Embossed “Tin Panels” by Christy Riopel I was inspired by old tin ceiling panels when I created this page. I love how they go with the vintage feel of the photo. Supplies: Fancy Pants Designs patterned paper and stickers, Spellbinder’s dies and embossing folders, gesso, Stephanie Barnard for Clearsnap ink sprays, Beacon Adhesives 3in1 glue and Decoupage gloss sealer, Bazzill Basics Paper cardstock, marvy gel pen. To make the panels I cut the top and bottom off a pop can and down the side. I then took my Spellbinders embossing folder and embossed the metal from the can. I then painted it with gesso and let it dry. I sprayed it with Stephanie Barnard for Clearsnap Ink sprays and when they were almost dry I sealed them with Beacon Adhesives spray on Decoupage Gloss Sealer. This keeps the colours vibrant. I sanded some of…
