Watercolouring is everywhere right now, and I am just drinking up all its wonder and glory. I want to show you how amazingly quick and easy these cards are!!

To create this card you have three simple steps:

  1. On watercolour paper, stamp an image with Versamark and heat emboss it with white embossing powder. Apply heat with your heat gun.
  2. Stamp your block with your ink pad. Fill your aqua painter brush with water. Dip brush in ink and colour on your paper using brush strokes (see supply picture below)
  3. Use a heat gun to dry if you want but it’s not necessary. Gently wipe off any ink on your stamped image.Voila!!

To up the stakes a little bit, this next card was created by inking the stamp and then misting the inked stamp with water. You can ink the stamp using markers or refill ink – whatever you prefer. I then dropped some water again on the image to give it a little more movement.

This card was created by taking out my aqua painter and dipping it in the ink. I brushed the top part of the card and then misted it with lots of water. Next I tilted the paper down to create a drip. I then immediately used my heat gun to dry.

The beauty of watercolouring is that you can lift some of the color off if you aren’t happy with the results by using a paper towel roll. Then try again.

Note that if you don’t want any reaction with the black stamped images, it’s important to use an archival ink such as the Momento Black ink pad.

And if you still don’t like the mess or are like me and sometimes feel a little too lazy to go get some water (or haul out the kraft mat… let’s get serious!), then there are plenty of stamps that can give you the same watercolour effect with a stamp. This card does just that using the fabulous Stampin’ Up! Work of Art stamp set.

Happy watercolouring!
