12 Days of Giving

Today on our blog we welcome Stephanie Hart, an artistic crafter from the East coast.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Stephanie Hart and I live just outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia with my wonderful husband, two amazing step sons and six cats! Yes, you read that correctly! Six!

I prefer the term “Creative Cat Lady”, and this is explains why I chose the domain for my personal blog: www.thecreativecatlady.com

I’ve been scrapbooking since 2008, and I fell pretty hard for the hobby. Scrapbooking is my main love, but I also like to make jewelry (beading and silver Metal Clay), polymer Clay, pet photography, watercolors and mixed media. Some of my Polymer Clay embellishments have even been featured on the cover of Canadian Scrapbooker (Fall 2009), and I will always remember the moment when I spotted one of my little mushrooms on the main display at the Chapters Books Store.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve felt a desire to create. Growing up, my family valued creativity and encouraged me at every turn. It instilled a confidence that enabled me as I got older to try new arts and crafts, new techniques, and new mediums. I haven’t mastered them all (if any), but if something piqued my interest I was never afraid to give it a try. If it allowed me to express myself creatively and sate that desire to “make something” then it was well worth my time and effort.

Scrapbooking combines so many of my creative interests, the fact that I’m able to document my family’s story is an added bonus.

This summer I began a new adventure, and created a Mixed Media YouTube Channel.  Click HERE to visit and watch me create.

This is a whole new experience for me, as I am new to recording and editing videos. I’m really enjoying the learning curve and was so surprised at the creative push that hitting the record button has triggered. Recording my work has forced me not to overthink things, to make quick decisions and go with the flow.

It has really changed my mindset, and I look forward to continuing my journey using this media!

Here is a sample of one of my Mixed Media Projects:
