Hello and Happy Fall! Kim here with some layouts to share, inspired by the September Sketchy Challenge. It’s no secret that I LOVE a good sketch as a starting place for scrapbooking. It seems to be what my brain seeks to start my creative process. I’m not one to always follow a sketch exactly. I never see absolutes with a sketch. Some folks see a sketch and distinguish what is a photo, paper and embellishment, they want to know what size to print photos and cut paper to make an exact replica, this is not wrong, just not my way. I, however see a sketch and think looser. What if the photo was paper or vice-versa, could an embellishment be a photo, one photo could hold the ‘weight’ of many photos, a photo could be a journal block, etc. I do not look to replicate the sketch, though sometimes it…

Hello Creative Scrapbookers! Kim here with a layout share full of warm, tropical vibes! I am just back from a weekend retreat with some of my favourite people. We shared stories, scrapbooking supplies, laughs and great food…there may have been some wine as well. Most of my friends were so productive…I was not. I do not create well at retreats. I know this and I accept this…yet I keep going to them. Why? Because surrounding myself with creative people, ‘my’ people and craft supplies fills up my mojo. These people feed my energy and my soul! I pack supplies knowing they will only be shuffled around and put back when I get home. Today was my day off. Between laundry, tidying and walking the dog I finished this layout. Happy New Year! Kim here with a quick layout share! It felt so good to ‘clean up’ Christmas within my house and get back to some routine. By the end of December I have had quite enough of too much food, too much shopping, too much wine, so many events, so many to-dos…this introvert needs to cocoon a bit in January! I managed to find some time to play in my craft room last night! YAH! One thing that has become a ‘thing’ for me is to gather all my Christmas cards and scrapbook/collage bits and parts of them into a layout. It’s a great way to hold on to the sentiments, photos and fun images of the cards from friends and family. The pandemic took all of my routines and put them into tail spin, allowing very little motivation at the end of my days for many things on my [happy] to-do list! Hello Creative Scrapbookers! It’s been a while since we shared a creative space! I always find we have a lull over the fall and winter months. The days are shorter and the light not as good for picture taking, this seems to lead to less submissions! It’s also a time that we get busy with our carnivals, holidays and our Big 12 Twelve Days of Christmas give-always! All these things affect what we may be sharing on our blog. Kim here with a fun project share using the Stampers Anonymous Merry Misfits stamps! Oh, how I LOVE these little guys! They are PERFECT for Christmas tags! The Misfits just make me smile and take a little stress out of the chaos of Christmas! Along with the Misfit stamps, I also used Ranger’s Simon Hurley Classic Flannel stamp, Distress Oxide Inks and a Shifter stencil! These products ALL play so well together! Good Morning Creative Scrapbookers! It’s a gorgeous day in Alberta, after some not so nice ones! I thought it would be nice to celebrate this beautiful morning with a creative space share from here, in our own stomping grounds! Hello Summer Collection perfect for Family Photos

Hello again! Kim here with another layout share for the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine! As our Alberta days shorten and get cooler, I am drawn to the colours of the season but my scrapbooking keeps me into summer vibes just a bit longer! For my layout, I used Simple Stories collection – Hello Summer. It was easy to pull out the patterned paper and embellishments that worked with my photo; a rare family photo opportunity that found my parents, siblings and myself all together! If lobster bibs are part of that moment…so be it! Here I matted my main image on a piece of CSM Superstock and made it larger to accommodate my journaling as well as my photo. I used some barn door Distress Oxide by Ranger, to edge my cardstock with a bit of colour to co-ordinate with the patterned paper. Once I had my basic layout arranged, I…
