Lately I have been feeling un-inspired. I want to be in my craft room but it seems like everything I make, I can’t get quite right. While playing around with the Lift Me Up bundle in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalog, I was stamping in black and gold and red… pretty much every colour of the rainbow. And then I finally used silver embossing powder. BAM. That’s all I needed to get the wheels turning.  I stamped in silver and then I did some die cuts in silver foil.  I was really impressed how the silver foil Up and Away Thinlet die ran through the Big Shot with ease.  This particular card has a lightly water coloured background using the tempting turquoise Stampin’ Up! refill ink. This gave it a look as if it was a sky. Many of you know that I die cut and stamp…

Welcome to the shabby chic world of the FabScraps booth! It’s hard not to “oooooh” and “aaaaah” at everything on display. There are 5 new collections that are so beautiful! Stickers, chipboard, stencils, charms and die cuts accompany each line. The first is called “Lavender Breeze” and it is so lovely with a colour palette of soft purples and white washed wood patterns. “For the Love of Tea” is a collection that has my heart leaping for joy! For those beach vacations and summer time projects, “Summer Loving” is a wonderful new collection with a coral, mint green colour palette and images of flip flops, starfish and shells. “Woodland’s Friends” is a playful, nature themed collection well-suited for children, with a fresh purple, lime and teal colour palette. The final new collection “Call From the Wild”  is designed especially to celebrate the animal species in South Africa, the home of FabScraps.…

The Chameleon Pens booth is like stepping into a world of magic because of the colourful demos with pens that have wonderful blending possibilities. There was a buzz of excitement because Chameleon Pens launched two new products at the show: Color Tops and Coloring Pencils. There is a Kickstarter campaign that you can join if you want to support this innovative product, and just head over to the Chameleon Pens website to learn more. The cool thing about Color Tops is you can now seamlessly blend COLOR TO COLOR! Just pop any Color Top onto your original Chameleon pen, the nibs touch and you quickly and easily have a two-toned blended colouring effect. The second new launch is the coloring pencils, perfect timing for the huge rise in adult coloring and coloring books. In fact, Chameleon pens now has colouring books as well, along with coloring cards too. These innovative pencils are…

The Simple Stories booth is always a fun colourful place to visit. There were 4 new collections on display. Another Disney themed “Say Cheese III” carries on from the previous two lines with a similar colour palette and very popular embellishments, stickers, papers, die cuts, etc. Putting together a Disney album couldn’t be easier! Following the trend of faith-based products, the release of the aptly named “Faith” collection is sure to be well-received. The products from the “Faith” collection can be used for scrapbooking as well as Bible journaling and Off The Page projects. The next collection “Domestic Bliss” has really sweet patterns with a ‘Home Sweet Home’ theme and lends itself well to scrapbooking daily life and moments. The final release “Emoji Love” celebrates our pop culture phenomenon of emojis and all things related to messaging and texting. The humor of the images and patterned papers made us giggle!…

Hi, Connie Nichol here today with a bright and cheerful scrapbook page featuring Close to my Heart products. My kids and I travelled to Germany last summer with friends and had the best time.   And took a lot of pictures.  Ha!  You’ll be seeing a of them as I slowly get them scrapbooked. This layout started with the Happy thin cuts die from CTMH. I coloured the die cut with Chameleon alcohol ink markers and then added three coats of Ranger clear embossing powder to make the words glossy and dimensional.  You can see how to do this step by step in the Creative Scrapbooker Technique Taster’s Web Show #105 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NnLYeAYb6A&t=6s It’s easy to do and looks very cool. I used patterned paper from the Close To My Heart Adventure Fundamentals line – so bright and colourful – and coordinating die cuts from the Good Life Fundamentals packet.   …

January is here, which means it’s time for another free colouring card from our illustrator and designer Betty Hung. This month Betty’s card celebrates 2017 as the Year of the Rooster. Betty used Tombow Dual Brush Pens to color and achieved beautiful gradient effects with her colouring techniques. Here is what the card looks like when you download and print it. It is sized approximately 5″ x 10″ and you can print it on regular copy paper or heavyweight cardstock. The paper choice for printing depends on which products you use to colour. To download and print this month’s card, click HERE. To learn more about colouring techniques, click HERE and visit Betty’s blog “Color Art” where she shares her ideas, tutorials and even video demonstrations.

It’s that time of year. You’ve got to do your Christmas Cards. I am here to tell you: Don’t be ambitious.  Be realistic. You need a card that is a) beautiful b) quick and c) has a wow factor. That’s this card. Say hello to… Well. Simply – one glittery bulb using Stampin’ Up! products. You can make these in bulk quickly. Step one: Stamp using versamark your image onto watercolour paper.  I chose this delightful Stampin’ Up! Happy Ornament stamp set. Heat emboss using black embossing powder. I usually do this in batches of 10. Step two: Watercolour using your Stampin’ Write markers and an aqua painter.  See last months Creative Scrapbooker Magazine post on how to do this.  Let air dry or use a heat gun. Step Three: It’s concoction time.  To achieve this “glittery bulb” look, I took a piece of transparency and poured some Crystal…

Birthday Fishes Card by Kerry Engel A colleague at work was having a special birthday so I decided to make an extra large card that would accommodate numerous greeting from staff (it measured 6×12). I’ve been using my Ranger distress inks to make watercolor backgrounds for my hand lettering and thought it would make a great background for the fish stamps from Heartfelt Creations. I got a bit carried away making fish one Saturday night but it resulted in a very impressive shoal. According to Wikipedia “any group of fish that stay together for social reasons are shoaling and if the group is swimming in the same direction in a coordinated manner, they are schooling”. My fish were swimming in every direction and they looked really social so I’m going with shoal. When I was done I asked my husband, “now what do I do? How am I going to…
