Hello! Kim here, just logging in to share my take on this month’s Sketchy Challenge!
This month, for the most part, I stayed true to Kelly’s sketch. As always, a sketch is a fun place to start creating from…especially if your mojo is on hiatus.
I pulled out my “A Year to Remember” collection from Creative Memories, and had fun going through the many different embellishments to find the ones that I felt worked best. I really like the colour palette of this collection, and look forward to pulling it out again.
Here’s a detail shot of the banners. I cut between each banner, so I could add some texture and movement to it. I also curled and distressed the edge of some of my paper…I love texture and layers, but still need my pages to be flat enough to fit in my albums. Another layer I have added but doesn’t show well here is a piece of vellum on top of the “arrow” paper. I use this a lot when I want the pattern of the paper to show but the colours to be less vibrant, allowing the photos and embellishments to stand out a bit more.
Tombow Adnesive Dots and Foam Tape keeps my layers exactly where I want them to stay and I used my Sakura Glaze pens for my journalling.
Thanks for checking out my simple, fun page. It’s a fun memory of a day well spent at Edmonton’s Ice Castle. We sure hope you play with this month’s sketch and upload it to our gallery to inspire others.
