SISTER TIME!
Hello everyone – Cathie Allan here today on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine blog.
Time with those you love is so very precious. The very cool thing about scrapbooking is when we create those memories we can “keep them forever” in a visual form that we get to enjoy the rest of our lives. We DO NOT have to rely on our “less than perfect” memory. PLUS we have the shear joy of living that memory repeatedly not only as we create but every time we take them out to reminisce. My two beautiful daughters were recently together in Mexico for some very special “sister time”. My girls have been best friends since they were little and as a mom, I feel very blessed to live their trip through the photos they shared with me.
To create this page I used techniques that I will be teaching in one of my up coming classes at the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnivals and at the “ScrapChicks Gone Wild” event. In the class we will be creating a cover for an “altered art journal” and a matching card. Both classes that I will be sharing are loaded with stamping, stenciling, faux watercoloring, embossing and unembossing techniques that you will use over and over again (and more!). AND these ideas are totally transferable to any paper creative project …. which includes scrapbooking. So here are all those techniques in a scrapbooking “make my heart stop” formate.
The Class Project
I used a new “petal point” from Clearsnap called Sunset to do the bulk of the work/play and an Art Screen that although is a funky poinsettia can obviously be used in this “sunshiny” application.
Beautiful stamps from “Impression Obsession” will be used to further alter our white Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock and we will be playing with a totally cool watercolor techniques that involves no watercolor paint at all. Customizing the totally awesome die cuts from “Southern Ridge” to match the projects simply adds more impact and “yes” just the right amount of shine. I look forward to sharing these ideas and unique techniques with you in my upcoming classes both at the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival in Edmonton and Calgary and then in Winnipeg at the “Scrapchicks Gone Wild” event in November.
See you soon and bring your smile …. we will be using it.
