The Summer 2016 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine featured one of my favourite Bible Art Journaling pages designed by Christy Riopel. The title of the art journal page was “Be Strong and Courageous”. The page was filled with bright colours of ink and layers of stenciling and stickers. A beautiful art journal page that makes me smile each and every time I turn through the pages of our Summer 2016 issue.
The Bible Art Journal Page
SUPPLIES: Ranger clear gesso, gel medium, distress inks and distress crayons, Bo Bunny stickers, stencils and stamps.
Basic Step By Steps
Prep your page by using a brayer to apply a thin layer of clear gesso. This lets you see the words on the page, but stops any wet mediums you put on top from soaking through the page.
Take a Ranger distress ink pad, and rub it directly onto the page. Don’t worry about covering all the areas. Just get some colour down.
Use a wet baby wipe to blend and spread the ink. Any areas you missed with clear gesso will take on more colour, adding to the painty look. Allow it to air dry.
Use a stencil like this Bo Bunny Stick On stencil, and colour in the voids with Ranger distress crayons. Rub the distress crayons with your finger to blend.
Remove the stencil very carefully, and repeat on several parts of your page.
Add paper pieces by adding a layer of Ranger mat gel medium to the back of your cut out. Then place on your Bible page and cover with a thin layer of gel medium. You can attach bits of Bo Bunny patterned paper and die cuts like this.
To stop stickers from peeling off your journal page, you can rub a little gel medium over top of them to seal them in.
Lastly, add some Bo Bunny stamped images in the background will add dimension.
And there you have it – a gorgeous Bible Art Journaling page – I am sure you love it just as much as Ido!
Have a wonderful weekend.
In loving memory of Christy Riopel – we continue to raise money for the Christy Riopel Art Scholarship. To date – one scholarship has been given through The Boys & Girls club of Calgary. This warms my heart knowing that Christy continues to spread gentle, caring and inspiring love through art in our world. Thank you so much to everyone who donates. We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.
