Each and every week, we look back in time and remember the beautiful art of our late friend and colleague Christy Riopel. Christy’s designs are timeless. So many of her creations from way back when continue to inspire us today. This week we are looking back to the Winter 2016 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. This was the last article that Christy wrote for our magazine. Christy was probably one of the most organized people I knew. She had her articles ready to go at the beginning of August and shortly after passed away. We ran her article and then decided to retire it in her honor. So many of her creations from way back when continue to inspire us today. This week we are looking back to the Winter 2015 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. This was our 10th-anniversary issue and Christy Riopel played a HUGE role in putting this issue together. From her Top Ten Background Techniques feature to her Top Ten Must-Have Tools – this issue was packed with love from Christy. One of my favourite projects that Christy created for this issue was her take on the front cover. Not only did she create a stunning layout but the cake that our gorgeous model is holding was also designed by Christy. This week we are looking back to the Spring 2016 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine, inside Christy’s regular Tool Junkie article. This article was all about a HOT new tool called the groove tool. Christy demonstrated a variety of different ways to use the tool on scrapbook layouts. This was my personal favourite. Peter’s Drive Inn was always a place we stopped on our way to the mountains to go skiing. I loved that Christy thought to capture this little family tradition. Her children will cherish it. Gesso Resist – #RememberingChristy

So many of her creations from way back when continue to inspire us today. This week we are looking back to the Fall 2016 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. Christy wrote a two-part feature article on using a variety of different types of mediums. The article was appropriately called Mad for Mediums as Christy rarely created a project without adding some kind of ooey gooey goodness! Here is one of the many projects that Christy designed featuring gesso. Gesso Resist Because gesso is a sealant, mediums will react differently on top of it then they will on paper. You can use this to your advantage by using it to create a soft resist. I call it a soft resist because it may retain a bit of…
