Here is a layout I found in the CSM archives Christy created years ago. Christy created this layout for a feature we were going to run many years ago about our CS Team’s individual scrapbooking spaces. It was one of those features that didn’t fly. The layouts were archived for a rainy day. We never wrote down the supplies that Christy used to create this layout. One thing is for certain – Christy loved her art studio. So did we! Creative Scrapbooker Magazine is honoured to announce that we have started an ART Scholarship in Christy’s name. For those of you interested in honouring Christy Riopel and helping her legacy of ART continue, we are collecting donations for art scholarships for youth through the Boys & Girls Club of Calgary. Here is a blog post from Christy from a few years ago for you to enjoy. Written in Christy’s words. The other day I was working on this layout with the fabulous paper and embellishments from FarmHouse Paper company and May Arts ribbon and I really felt like the beautiful rustic quality needed to be accented and off set with a little glitter. Perplexed with how to add it, I decided not to over think it and grabbed my trusty Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L tape runner and added stripes of the tape runner over the paper. I then poured Craft& Glitz Glamour Glitter all over the tape and burnished it with my finger. I poured off the excess glitter and my paper was ready to build my layout on top off. The glittery stripes add a great level of texture and interest. This simple technique, done with a versatile adhesive…
Remember this front cover? Way back to Fall 2010. Christy created the front cover layout. Thank you to Heidi Brand for the gorgeous photo and to Christy for the fun design. Christy used a pile of Harmonie tiles to create the tree on this layout – WE LOVED it then and WE LOVE IT NOW!!!! This was the first front cover layout Christy designed for us…she went on to design 5 more front cover projects for us over the next 6 years. Christy is the only artist in the history of our magazine to have appeared this many times on our front cover. Here is a blog post from 2010 Christy shared with us….. I love Core’dinations ColorCore pre-embossed cardstock. It makes a great base for a mixed media technique page. I started by dry brushing gesso over the entire surface of the teal paper. Don’t add water as that may lessen the embossing a bit. I then added Clearsnap ColorBox dye ink to the raised surfaces by directly rubbing the ink pad on them. I love the how antique the finished look is. I used Core’dinations ColorCore die cuts on the page as some of the many layers I have under my photo. Supply list: Core’dinations ColorCore paper and die cuts, May Arts Ribbon, paper doily, gesso, Clearsnap ColorBox dye ink, Marvy pen, Beacon Adhesive, Photo by Allison Orthner. To celebrate Christy’s love of the arts we have set up a Scholarship for the Arts in Christy’s name. The Boys & Girls Club…
